If you want to rock a black one go to Home Depot and get their 7/16 fiber washer in those pull drawers. Grab a round file and in 60 seconds you can file the hole just a bit bigger. I now ditch the white 3PDT washers for these fiber ones as well.

They used to use punches Dave. They had this whole large rig, with these big metal letter punches, and they would line it all up to keep it square. Labour intensive indeed.

Punches can be fun, but to align like they did (and with that much lettering) would be a PITA.
