General Questions / Re: Fuzzrite PCB?
April 08, 2021, 01:04:09 PM
I think you can make it on a silicon Fuzzrite pcb with a couple of component tweaks. I built my germanium Fuzzrite from this one a few years ago.

Awesome! I never got around to making Phaser. Does it do anything "different" from the pack? I love my edge lord. The synth pulse modes are juicy fun.

-Tayda, I buy 90% of my parts there. Cheap, fast, large stock, reliable.

-I wouldn't use old Electros. They dry out over time. You can build 1590b pedals with up to 12mm tall caps.
-You can learn a lot from breadboarding.

HA!
I just checked out Mister PPCB-VFE on Reverb-
I'm a little surprised he didn't goop the board.
Right?! He brags about Burr Brown OP2134 OP AMPs and those "amazing" 1n34a with the high fv and then takes a gutshot without either installed. I wonder where most of his parts were made if not China. I just sent him a message asking if he'd install the magic parts after I purchase or why aren't they pictured.

General Questions / Re: Dr. Boogie in the 2020

I don't know about your vero layout, but I've built a few of the pedalpcb boogie moster pcbs and they are dead quiet and very heavy with no issues whatsoever. One of my faves that I only recently discovered because I too assumed it was overdone and outdated years ago.

I wonder if this is the same person selling 300 clones of the vfe merman on a pedalpcb.com board on reverb. I showed that post to my wife and she was mad because I sell my hand painted pedals for 75 bucks and this was a bare enclosure.

Whoo BOY! I had to check out that listing. What a crock of up-his-own-ass crap!. I can't believe the audacity of salesmanship going on there. That build quality is similar to Alchemy Audio, which is poor and overpriced at half that $. Noisy old random resistors, And the diode thing.... I just can't.

This was a really rewarding build. It can get so wet it snaps like a bully's towel. Finally got to use an old bakelite chicken head knob I grabbed off an ancient voltage measuring tool.

I think their FilterFx is amazing though. It has a rock solid (and quiet running) S/H mode that is worth is alone.

Mine was dead quiet, but I didn't like the way it made aliasing noises when turning the time knob. It doesn't warp like regular delay and I don't think it can be modulated. A 100% wet mix would be nice too. But at least the repeats don't sound like 2399 hash. I'd liek to see more DIY delays designed around the M65831AP.

An analog octave up or ring modulator.

That's cool!  Do you know how the bypass is working?  I don't see a relay.
It's a programed buffered bypass in the tap tempo firmware along with a splash feature.
