Open Discussion / Favorite Slow Downer iApp?
August 13, 2013, 04:32:41 PM
Downloaded Anytune free.  The $14.99 version seems very feature rich but I hesitate to recommend a $15 app to my students.  Anybody have any input or alternatives?

Love'm both.  What type of paint did you use on the flame?  I used some model car enamel paint but wasn't crazy about the results.

Ch1naski, I haven't come across that one.  I'll have to check it out!

Yes.  I've got the parts to do Engineer's Thumb Compressor (5knob comp) vero layout from SabroTone.  Lots of cool stuff there.

Yeah, it seems like a great community over there

My main reason for choosing this OD was because of thorough walk through of the vero layout over at tagboardeffects.  Trying to get my head around all this stompbox 'wizardry'!

jprizz, this is my first OD build.  I'm relatively new to pedal building.  I say all that because I may not have a real objective ear right now.  I've only played about 5 mins but it seems pretty responsive to picking dynamics.  Minimal tone coloration.  Tone knob seems to be usable across the whole range.  Seems very good.  I'll try an update the 'review' on Monday.  I hope to have some time to play then.

Based on the Lovepedal Eternity layout from tagboardeffects. Probably not an original idea but I put the LED in a 2x8 piece of vero with the CLR and hot glued it to the enclosure (don't particularly care for soldering wire to the LED leads:)
Fired up first time!

I ended up in school for classical guitar by a strange series of events.  Didn't have a real interest in classical, but anyway.  I learned how to learn.  I learned how to practice.
My problem now is focusing my goals, carving out the time, and following through.
I strongly encourage everyone at least have a mentor if not a paid teacher.  It's important to have an objective eye and ear to critic our playing (it was done all the time in school, I rarely see this in the 'rock and roll' world.)

He updated the BOM but not the layout.  I've emailed him.

Thanks Alan and Jimilee
Jimilee, I sorted my parts for the Techo delay last night.  I had a look at circuit board and there are a few things that aren't labeled.  The LM7805 seemed obvious based on the funky protrusion.  Not sure about the others.  Do you have a completed layout?

Open Discussion / Is a LM7805 the same as a L7805?
June 19, 2013, 05:05:44 AM
I placed an order for a LM7805 and received a bag labeled L7805CV.  When I double checked Tayda's website and my old order, it read "LM7805 L7805 7805".  Are these all one in the same.  There seems to be different spec sheets floating around the web.  Is it a matter of different manufacturers?

It's interesting work Pryde.  One of my favorite units is mainly schizophrenia and bipolar population.  Only get over there for 3-4 groups a week. Rewarding and challenging.

General Questions / Re: Noob Solder question
May 19, 2013, 12:39:20 PM
Thanks folks.  I got some solder from my father in law's garage (retired electrician).  It has done the trick.  Looks like it was manufactured in the 70's:)
