I love the look of that, cloudscapes! Amazing-looking. Is that a waterslide on top of alcohol inks? A work of art...

Thanks! And yes, almost, waterslide on top of acrylic. Then coated with clear epoxy!

Interesting, looks like an FV-1 based effect!

Couldn't find video/sound of it in action anywhere, though.
EDIT: nevermind, I'm blind. I thought that was a page banner/header.

Rule of thumb, if your multimeter has a transistor-testing socket, it's probably too cheap. ;)

(actually not a joke. the two come hand-in-hand more often than not)

Open Discussion / Re: Bad resistors from Tayda

Yeah when it comes to dirt-cheap components like resistors and non electrolytic caps, I don't see any reason not to just buy them in the hundreds from mouser/digikey. Still only pennies (or even less), and you'll know you should be able to trust them.

now I poke at it for clues
this SHOULD be working, why

I like the boss DD20
May I mod it, more reverb?
What resistors should I get.

Finished this last night. V2 of a delay I built 2 years ago. Redid 2/3rds of the hardware, though the software/feature set is mostly unchanged.

The resolution pot kinda works as a clean blend already.
It controls how much signal passes through the sample and hold unaffected.

So maybe you don't need to add a clean blend?

I disagree, if this is a bitcrusher, it can always benifit from bot ha resolution pot and a blend. Or else how would you get a subtle background heavily crushed sound? If you were stuck using the resolution knob also as a blend, and wanted it only to be lightly applied on your signal, you would only have the option of the highhest resolution setting. No low resolution crackly rumble in the background.

Open Discussion / Re: DIY delay with TC2290 modulation?
January 14, 2017, 02:54:41 PM
The quoted paragraph doesn't really supply any information. It's not describing anything specific or technical, just general delay time modulation. You could literally replace all instances of "2290" in that paragraph with the name of any other delay that has time modulation and it would be just as true.  Not saying all modulated delays sound the same (they definitely do not), just that the author doesn't supply any relevant info that would be useful in recreating it. ;)

It sounds more like to me that the author is just a fan of the 2290, and references it as "standard modulated delay" when it needs to be talked about.

Modulation can vary in many ways to give it a particular sound. What kind of filters are in the delay line? What shape is the modulation's LFO, is it sine, triangle, something else? Is the LFO itself modulated, etc. Is there any filtering on the LFO to have it change as you scale the rate?

That is REALLY cool. Stupid question, but how do you hook up to it to change code, or update it?

A little hard to see, but there's a little 5-pin header between the micro and the chip in the center.

So, you are telling us that you hand-draw all your designs??

and how do you do you paint jobs?

Mostly, yes. Occasionally if I'm really lazy I'll use some artwork I like, but 9 times out of 10 it's my own drawings.

In the case of this one, I was however inspired by this, drawn by somebody else:
https://s-media-cache-ak0.pinimg.com/736x/76/1f/6f/761f6f12a1b746629683d505256d119c.jpg

I was already set on a crescent moon and a bird skull with dangly stars on strings. I was searching for bird skulls to use as reference and came across it! I liked the idea of the flowers and the dangly strings was close to what I always draw, so I kind of "reinterpreted it". I can't claim originality on this one.
