Open Discussion / Re: Lets talk about strat pickups

I was toying with doing the same SSH conversion using the Suhr Thornbucker and a pair of ML single coils.  Like that red Suhr Classic that Pete Thorn has been playing lately.

If I do move forward with it, I was planning to assemble an entirely new pickguard so I could swap back, sell the SSS assembly, or move it into a different guitar.

No judgement toward any individuals or financial plan is intended in the following contribution to this thread.

About 10 years ago I heard a financial counselor indicate that credit card users spend about 12% more than non-card users.  At that time I used cards for the convenience and never carried a balance.  However, after hearing the spending statistic, Mrs Larynx and I cut up all our cards, paid off the car loan, closed and 'froze' all the credit accounts, and started paying cash for everything.  Our goal is to never borrow another dime.

I recognize that this thread has migrated from G.A.S. to Debt and finances so I'll try to bring it back around...Jimi is right; 'not buying stuff sucks a lot'...until a person finds contentment.  I search for it and find it on occasion, but I have to be careful, because too much contentment sometimes gives me G.A.S. ::)

3PDT Switch ~ 20K to 50K electrical cycles
Tact Switch ~1M to 5M cycles
It seems like the goal was improved cycles, it needed better alignment keeper as previously noted.

I have a stock Blues Jr. with the Jensen speaker and the 1960 Tribute LP with the '57s.  I experience the same EQ/Tone thing you do when I switch back and forth between the LP and "S" or "T" style guitars.  I change the EQ on the amp and/or guitar to compensate.

I built a pedal similar to what you are planning.  I posted it over at BYOC a while back.  It has a description of how I did it in the write-up.  Here is a link: http://www.byocelectronics.com/board/viewtopic.php?f=8&t=42323&sid=30fd1a2823ef4a14082fb0bb6b53f94c

Thank you for the feedback, Chandler.

In the months following my OP, I was able to soften my wife's stance on the location of the artwork above our fireplace.  She saw the error of her ways ( ::)) and agreed to install a 55" flat screen on the wall to replace the 32" flat screen that maxed out the width of our entertainment center.  Our room isn't very deep, so this new screen provides enough viewing area for us at 1080p, so we are good at this point.

I was concerned that a 'good enough' projector was going to be way above what I thought it was worth.

Google is your friend for this quest.   Providing more information about your desired material type (wood, pvc, metal) and portability would yield more specific feedback for you.

Trying to figure out why I got no 'repeats' in a delay build, only to find out I had the PT2399 chip in backwards.  Thankfully, that mistake didn't toast anything.

This may be a 'way outside the box' idea (the kind I usually come up with) but what about bonding in a flanged sleeve bearing?  You can buy them with the ID you need and the flange gives you extra surface area for bonding and force distribution.  You'll just need to size it down to the thickness of the guitar top and make sure the pot threads are long enough to reach through the flange.  The flange could also be sanded down to reduce thickness.

Anyway, they look like this:

Here is a link to one place that sells them.

Just a thought.

It is pedal related... The skinny pedal on the right gets her down the track.  Its a different type of stomp. ..more of a 'romp on it'.

Thanks for the comments.  If I do end up finding something, I'll circle back here with a review.

Open Discussion / Home Theater Projectors under $250??
August 28, 2014, 11:41:00 AM
I'm seeing some relatively low dollar (<$100) LED bulb projectors, but, I'm concerned about the 'you-get-what-you-pay-for' impact.  Thought I would check with you all to see if $250 was enough to get a 'decent' quality for gaming and movies.

Has anybody purchased a home theater projector for $250 or less that they were happy with??
If so, what was the brand and model?

Thank you!

Build Reports / Re: Delirium

Looks comfortably used with the distress on the finish.  I really dig the counter-sink on the LED.  If my drill press didn't have so much run-out I'd try it too, but I'd probably end up with a glory hole smack in the middle of the pedal face. ::)

She is beautiful.   Shouldn't this be in the build report section?   ;D
