I'm of the opinion string through is the way to go. I have no scientific evidence though. It seems to me that you would get better vibration transfer when the string terminates in the wood of the body rather than on a metal plate that is screwed to the body. And the tension on the saddle is increased due to the right angle the string path takes, I think this imparts more vibration to the body as well. Of course, only my opinion.

the PCB out AND the pot lug three both go to the switch. I have not built a wah before, and this layout lists two outputs, which confused me. I went and looked at a schem to see that this does indeed have two outputs that must be connected.

The smaller package ones that look more like a 1n914 aren't germanium.  They are silicon versions.

Ah, so the chinese ebay sellers listing these as 'germanium' are misrepresenting the item.

Not to hijack the thread, but merely open the discussion further, what's up with the different package types? I'm used to seeing the bigger clear ones with the green or black band. Now I'm seeing a lot that are red (burnt orange) in color and smaller, like the 1n4742a. Is this a manufacturing thing, or are these just work alikes? What is the D0-xx designations signify?

I also have a low rider in production right now, I had a few NOS 1n34a's that I was able to use for this build, but I'll need to restock very shortly.

I twist mine in a lot of builds for cleaner runs. I've always worried about crosstalk, but I haven't noticed anything to my ear. Maybe I should A/B two identical circuits and find out.

Yes, if you take a look at the schem, you'll see -9 is coming from pin 5 of the IC.

Those ceramics look cool, I have used a couple of them. you're in the right direction on everything. I like the nichicon electros, just be sure you get the right size. 2 or 2.5mm lead spacing should do you good. the 470u are usually 5mm. You also want to watch your case diameter, 5mm is a good size.

You're looking for DIP switches. I don't have the build doc in front of me, but I think you'll need two 2-pos switches.

word, big ups to everyone. I may not big a big poster on here, but this (this=the community in general) is the best community I've had the pleasure of being part of. Nowhere have I seen so much support and encouragement as I have with the pedal building community. We are not competitors, just colleagues in the same industry. I love how we all buy each others products and cross support everyone involved. There are too many to name specifically, but the big guys have no problem with standing shoulder to shoulder with the newcomers and long time builders alike.
