You should see the state of his lungs, though!

General Questions / Re: Stutr purple blob

Thanks Felix for the reply,

I have just tried it in Eagle and it works - How dumb of me not to realise that
any copper drawn with the line tool is "nameable"!

I still can't get my head around it being "somewhat separate".
The two planes are still both connected to GND aren't they?

Thanks again ,guys, for the (positive) feedback :-P

Mmm, my brain hurts!
So this somehow isolates the LFO from the audio circuits

I keep buying "bargains" on ebay only to be disappointed. Don't talk to me about
J201s - never again!

Thanks for the reply. I thought vias were used to stitch ground planes.
It dosen't seem to make sense. If the purple blob is copper on the bottom layer
(I  assume), then surley the 2 zones are no longer isolated - so my question is: what
is the point?
Secondly, how to you actually render this in Eagle? Do you use the line tool and if so
how do you avoid isolation gaps when you click on Ratsnest?

General Questions / Stutr purple blob

Hi,
just looking at the layout for the Stutr. Does anybody know what the purple blob in the middle of the layout is? (Stupid question, I know - obviously Brian knows)!

Hi Brian,

I haven't been able to build anything in over a year for personal reasons. I've just been browsing some of the contributors 2015 builds  - some amazing stuff there! That, and your post here, is inspiring me to get back into it. I am sitting on quite a few PCBs here. i need to get my ass into gear!

Thanks, once again, for this amazing gift!

Tech Help - Projects Page / Eagle questions
February 05, 2015, 05:04:27 AM
Hi everyone,

first posted this in Jacob's Eagle tutorial post and got passed over so here we go again:-P :

I thought I'd thanked Jacob for the amazing Eagle videos but I can't see my post anywhere - early onset of senile dementia I think! Thanks Buddy, anyway. I'm really getting stuck into Eagle now; had my first board (Maxon 808) manufactured by iTead only to find out I'd fucked up on the schematic in three places! What a prick!

Anyway, I have some Eagle related questions: Firstly, I am trying to create a library package of four adjacent pads, one for "in", one for "out" and one each for ground and power. While I am able to place this at ,say, the bottom centre of the board, the accompanying symbol has four inseparable pins. For obvious reasons these need to be dotted around the schematic. Put simply: how do I do this while keeping all the right net assignments? Hope that makes sense. Also, any advice on creating a package for components with two different lead spacing would be appreciated, too. Two of the pads, at least, need to be connected; is this done by adding a wire between them on the package or what?

Finally, (I know I'm pushing the boat out here)!  I noticed on Brian's schematics he uses nice chunky traces for the power. Is there any reason why it it wouldn't be easier to do a copper pour on the top copper instead? Would this induce any unwanted noise or artefact to the signal if I did it this way?

Many thanks, Mark

Cheers Paul,
and to Brian and all the wonderful contributors on the forum. What a fucking mad year! Seasons greetings to all; to christians, jews, muslims, pagans, atheists and even to UKIPers! I've had a great idea: why don't we all be really nice to each other today and........... this is the really clever bit: we keep doing this every day after, ad infinitum! It could work.
Good luck with the brewing, Paul, gonna get myself a couple of demijohns in the new year too!
peace :-)

Wow, this is lovely. This kind of quality is what I aspire to do! Made in Austen, too, how cool is that! Home of one or two great guitarists :-P

.....of course, these are silly prices. I know it is completely irrelevant but I played with Pete once upon a time (he plays alto sax), he is a lovely guy so if Gilmour et all are prepared to pay this kind of dosh who am I to criticise. I'll be etching MB's Darkside very soon instead so who's the richer man, eh!?.......er, him!

BTW i don't understand what is going on with these buffers on this schematic. It seems to be cascading two buffers before it hits the main circuit. Is this right or have I misinterpreted it?
