I tried these with mixed results. Some turned out perfect and some didn't. Then again I don't have laminator and I used an iron instead. I am going to say it was user error on my part.

Sold on amazon.

I'm overwhelmed and amazed at this. Any chance of a demo video?

General Questions / Re: Soft Switching
June 14, 2019, 11:18:13 AM
I've used the nope relay from TH Customs for a micro controller less relay. http://diy.thcustom.com/shop/nope-relay-true-bypass-kit/
It looks like it uses an CD40107 for its operation.

There is also a good article on TH Customs about micro controller less relay based switching worth reading. http://diy.thcustom.com/switching-relay-true-bypass-circuits-not-using-a-microcontroller/

Build Reports / Re: FV-1 Oled Display Switcher

I've had the parts to do something like this for nearly a year; but my friend who was going to help me with the arduino programing joined the Marines. Thanks for the info; maybe it will help me along in my project.

The center switch is an 3pdt effects order switcher. Much easier to wire up a little pcb from pedalpcb than to wire it in the raw (I did that once and I thought never again). I don't have the arrows lighting up; but whatever way the toggle is flipped is first in the signal chain.

This is seriously awesome.   A couple questions.....
Is the switch down at the bottom an order switch?   Did you cut out arrows into the enclosure?   Do those arrows light up to show the current order?
What order daughter board did you use?   The more I stare at this build, the more impressed I become (and dizzy). 😁
Steve.

You mean you don't just happen to have a pair of 3D glasses lying around the house? I did, thats why I built this thing.

I have mixed feelings about this.  On one hand it's a great build with cool artwork.  On the other hand, I'm now cross-eyed.   ;D

The drawing is from a children's book that I modified and edited heavily.

Build Reports / The Red Cross Knight and The Blue Dragon
February 25, 2019, 09:47:37 PM
My buddy got back into guitars after taking a break for years. He wanted to build a small pedal board so we went and tried out pedals at a local shop to get a feel for what he likes. He bought a delay and reverb, then he asked me to build him a pedal like the JHS Double Barrel, which he liked.

I used pcb's from Aion Electronics (I thought about using veroboard layouts, but I thought it would be higher quality to go with pcb's). I used the cerulean (bluesbreaker) pcb in morning glory setup. The PCB has pads for a second set of diodes, so I added the diodes from the zendrive on a switch (my buddy borrowed my zendrive clone and liked it). The second circuit I added is the nimbus (Maxon od-820). I added an order effects switcher too.

I came up with some cool artwork and drilled my enclosure then envirotexed it. When I went to assemble it I drilled the enclosure 1/4" too close to the top mounted jacks...hence my recent thread on what to do with a failed enclosure. I ordered a new 1590bbt to avoid the jacks and I started the enclosure over again. Then when I was about to print my waterslide decal, inspiration struck. I decided to take my red and blue themed artwork and make it 3D. And with the 3D glasses I have, it actually looks three dimensional.

Plus, it sounds great!!!

I have an enclosure that i drilled too close to the top (by 1/4") and the pots and pcbs hit the jacks. There is no way conceivable to make it work, so it's useless for this project; but it seems like such a waste to throw it away. What do you guys do when this happens? How have you repurposed a dud enclosure before?

You can neutralize it with baking soda (NaHCO3), but it will take a lot of it and it will take time.
That reminds me: A friend of mine used to work for the Arm & Hammer company. His job involved coming up with new uses for baking soda, one of their major products. He was therefore in charge of ploughing through all the tips and tricks that innovative customers would mail in. He said that the most memorable one was when someone had sent in a letter saying that they'd used baking soda to embalm their cat. We now return to our regularly scheduled programming...

My Daughter and I mummified a chicken for a science/history lesson when she was studying Egyptology. Lots of salt and baking soda!!! It's currently wrapped in bandages and kicking around the garage until such a time as I make a sarcophagus for the bird.

Where is the folder for the 2018 BOTY? I didn't see it in the member area; though I did see the past BOTY folders.

Open Discussion / Re: Tdpri is down?

I have tried to get on yesterday and today; I have used various site up or down checkers and they have consistently said the site is down everywhere. The site registration is supposedly good through 2019. So it must be a server issue.

Definitely the L5...but thats because I keep looking at that longingly every time I check out the new projects on Aion Electronics.

This was a cool video! I would love another video to show some more of your DIY pedals/pedalboards and some building tips. Any chance of you showing us more about your planned soft-touch looper? Thanks.

Im going to take my PedalPCB Octagon and add a tft display and a rotary knob for a program selector. I'll be using an adafruit feather and a 1.8" screen. Hopefully I will be able to scroll through the programs (individually displayed on the screen) and have the digital pots 1-3 list what they do in that particular patch. I also hope to add a splash screen during boot-up of my logo. Ive been sitting on this project since late March, but I just got all the components yesterday.

I'm also trying my hand at multi effects pedals on vero. Currently I am building, what is essientially, a JHS Red Ruby (Superbolt and boost) in a 1590bb with top mounted jacks, switchable buffered bypass, and effects order switching. Ill be using film-free laser gold metallic decals for the artwork (I've never tried anything like this before).

I also need to finish painting my telecaster I started making over 2 years ago.

That is a great idea to add extra ground pads. I say make it how you like it to be used. You are in good company as PedalPCB.com adds extra ground pads at the top of their boards for the in/out jacks ground wire (they are set up for top mounted jacks).
