Good evenin' guys !

Hi everybody ! After a missed prototype (I found the problem and I've fixed it) I have now a great layout for my version of a Muff (which is the GGG's one, it turned to be the one that I prefer...probably cause it do not still sound like a BigMuff...hehe)

I really like the blue !!  :D

You know when you order a small batch of 50 PCB.....just the minute before you hit the switch.....it feels like I was about to die.....but it fired up and sounded perfectly nice !!  :D yeah !!

I called it the JOJO CAKE...because of a friend (Jonathan)
It's the 4th on the row !! You can see my models (I'm very proud of my line up....after only 8 month and a half of building.....and missing.....and spending all my energy to solve the many issues I faced...)

I'll probably film some demos next week with a friend.....and you'll be able to follow me on my web site www.jonnyrockgear.com

Hope you like it !! Cheers  :)

Build Reports / Pink Cave Dweller !
October 09, 2013, 01:15:36 PM
It's such a pain to put it in the box !! I like to have more room to work. But I'm happy with the result and that sounds great !

I like the ultra bright white LED !

An etched version, not very clean, I did a lot of troubleshooting before it fired up !! :(

I did the powder coating myself (I'm new to that), I really like that pink color !!
With my logo (a friend did it, and I printed it on a regular decal paper).

Those fancy knobs are a bit expensive but they worth it, I find it classy !
Cheers ! :)

Build Reports / Karate shop/powder coating
October 08, 2013, 06:57:19 PM
Hi everyone ! I wanted to try something knew to have fun with. Something that's inspiring. The Karate Shop sounds good for that ! I started powder coating last week. Wow, that's too easy...It went good at first try with the cheapest gun I found. I'll save a lot of money doing this technic. With a 10$ spray can I did like 4-5 enclosures, now with 10$ of powder I'm gonna be able to paint around 30 boxes.....amazing !!

Here's the build (I didn't spend time for art work with this one. It's just to see if I like it.)

I build the etched single side version.

It didn't fire up at the first try ! Grrrr >:(
It took me too much time before I see that I forgot to solder a cap leg !! Rookie style !!  ;D

I was anxious about trying this and finally it's very nice !!

No need to tell which circuit is inside...   ;D

I really like this pedal !

No demonstration needed here !

Cheers dear mates !!

;D    I'm glad she likes it !!

Here's the inside !

It was a pain to get it fit in the box, there's a small speaker under the green PCB. (Just a kinda kit that produce some kind of a bird noise....I said kind of...hehe)

The other part is a schematic I found in "Electronics for dummies".....A ten LEDs device with a timer and a CMOS4017 chip.

that was a good practice in Eagle, I made the schematic and etched the board.

A double-sided layout with sockets and chips is very hard to solder on the top part (that's a thing I just learn doing that...)

I hope the link will work for the video, it's on my facebook page !

General Questions / the cost of clipping diodes !!
August 28, 2013, 01:08:29 PM
I'd like to add a clipping diodes stage to my build. I really like the sound, but I'v lost 6db(at least) and when I switch back to bypass setting full volume is back.

is there a way to manage it ???

Thank you !

Build Reports / Prototyping/Testing rig !!!
August 27, 2013, 06:29:09 PM
I'm proud of this waste of time......That'll makes me spare much more !!

Here's the whole ensemble.

Clean wiring.

My DIY cables made with heatshrink.

An inside view.

And yes it works !  :D  I tested it with my version of TS (a GGG etching layout with Keeley mods and a fat switch, 3mm LEDs, 1N914, and bypass mode)

Hey guys.....just wondering if anybody can help me to reduce noise to this.....

It's a Torn's Peaker clone modified to my taste.....I grab it from the Devi Ever site, so it's supposed to be what it is.....a Torn's Peaker.....

There's a "SHHHHHHHH"......I don't hear it while playing but when I stop it become annoying..........when I roll off the volume knob of my guitar I can hear something like a radio station.....kinda weird !

I tried to pull down a 100uf cap from r5/r6 to GND and it works pretty well (even if I have no idea of what I'm doing....hehe  :D   But 5 seconds later the noise get back to annoye me again  ???

Anybody can help me identify where in the schem I can do something to get rid of that noise ??????

Thanx !!

General Questions / TO-18 vs TO-92 ???
July 04, 2013, 07:38:15 AM
Hi guys !

I hesitate ordering some 2N2222A TO-18 or TO-92......??

Until now, I've use only TO-18.....but the TO-92 are way much cheaper.....

Anyone can tell if there's an audible difference with those two Q's ???

If there's a difference I'll stick with the TO-18 'cause I really like how it sounds.....but if there's no difference at all.....then why bother pay more ??

Any idea ???
