Open Discussion / My bands dvd kickstarter
March 22, 2012, 07:17:38 PM
Hey guys,

I play guitar in a band on the side called "Tears of Mars" and were trying to release a live dvd/action epic movie that weve been filming/recording/editing over the past year and a half or so, and now that were almost at the point of completion of it, we simply don't have the funds to get it duplicated so that we can release the dvd. Anyway, we found a website called kickstarter that is sort of like a donation website where people can donate to a artistic project. So we started one and were just trying to get backers to help us get to the goal of $2000, to get it duplicated/released.

heres a link to the page where you can find out more about it and be sure to watch the video, which explains better what it is all about: http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/11227813/tears-of-mars-vs-the-industry?ref=live

and we have updates/videos/info on the page as well, and "rewards" set up for people that donate set amounts.

Any and all donations are excepted and no donation is too small, $1, $5... anything. We are eternally grateful for anything you can give. Thanks for checking it out!

Build Reports / Wee-wah
March 18, 2012, 08:59:28 PM
 Hey guys,

Just wanted to share this new project Ive been working and I finally completed building the prototype... The "Wee-Wah". I got inspired by Brian's baby board projects and started designing and building this thing! Turned out really good and works and sounds great for such a little pedal.

In "park'd" mode, the Wee Wah acts as a fixed wah, that you can set to your liking to boost certain frequencies for leads/solos, etc. What makes the Wee Wah really stand apart though, is the "sens" mode. In this mode, the Wee Wah uses an external LDR that, depending on how much light is hitting it, will control the wah sweep. In other words, you can use your foot just like a wah motion, or your hands to block/let through light; which makes for loads of experimental fun! It also has an output buffer built in, so it will work great w/ drive pedals following it, as well.

Let me know what you guys think.

Tech Help - Projects Page / Sea Urchin power problem
November 29, 2011, 10:52:40 AM
I'm having a problem w/ this build...

It will work perfectly normal for a while, then when I bypass the switch, pull out the power adapter and plug it back in, and switch it back on, it wont get a delay signal, just a clean signal and it will stay 'not working' until I unplug it again, and leave it for about 5 minutes, then plug it back in... don't understand what it could be, as Ive never ran into this problem before...

Ive checked for pinout problems (namely the voltage regulator), solder joints, and wiring issues. I also know that it's not the 3pdt switch failing because it did it on my breadboard as well.

Is it possible that its a bad/faulty voltage regulator?

I started building a pedal for a friend who wanted to cop some brian may, deacy amp, cocked wah "style" tones and thought it would be great to make a dual effect pedal (2 effects in one box). So I thought the neutrino might sound good feeding into the runoffgroove may queen circuit (http://www.runoffgroove.com/mayqueen.html). The neutrino for a smooth overdrive sound, then the ROG may queen, for a sort of high gain, treble boost, cocked wah sound for leads or whatever.

So I put them both on my breadboard to test them out together...  w/ the output wire of the neutrino feeding into the input of the may queen on the breadboard (rather than them having there own bypass switch, to be used indivdually...as they would when I actually box it up) I tested them out, and though they sounded good individually, when used together it just oscillates crazy and they don't seem to play nice together... does anyone have any ideas on what I could do to cure this problem? I was thinking maybe some sort of buffer somewhere?... but I'm not sure where at and what values to use, ect... Any help is appreciated, thanks :)

Hey, just finished a retrograde board, and I have it wired up to my breadboard "station", and it's working good, and basically sounds like an octavia is supposed too, but I'm just having this problem w/ it squeling and hissing at the end of the fuzz pots rotation. It is alot more noticable, and crazier sounding on the octave side, and it does it when I turn the volume pot up too loud, as well... All the parts are exactly stock, as per the MB schematic and has no substitutions for any of the parts... was wondering, if this is just because it's not boxed up yet (not input grounded, ect...), or if this might a problem somewhere on the board. Also, was thinking, mabey I need a small filtering cap on one of the transistors to tame it, or something? IDK, thanks in advance for any help.

Build Reports / Deadringer (sloth-claw)
May 09, 2011, 04:20:45 AM
Just thought I would share one of my latest builds... Sloth-Claw! I think it turned out pretty cool.

Sanded w/ 320 grit to give it a rougher look on the bare metal, and the artwork is actually ironed on from a laser jet print out (set at it's darkest setting), on glossy laser jet paper, and ironed on for 15 min... when I put the spray on lacquer on, I sprayed it alot closer to the enclosure than you normally would for this, because I found that it darkened up the image alot more, when done this way...

Tech Help - Projects Page / Aquaboy problem
April 25, 2011, 10:53:08 AM
I just finished the aquaboy w/ the v3205 chip, and used the trimpots to adjusted accordingly (cleanest repeats, lowest clock noise, longest delay time), and it was sounding great. So I took it off the breadboard and wired it up in the actual enclosure, and when I was finished it just had a sort of reverb/chorus sound to it with no actually repeat sounds. So I rebiased it after that and it was again sounding good w/ nice, clean, 300-350ms repeats and nice loud repeats... until today, I plugged it in and it's doing just the reverbish sound again, so I reset the bias knob, clock, and delay time trimmers, and again, it works great. I was wondering if anyone has had this problem yet, and/or any fixes for it? I don't know why it would "reset" like this or whatever... but I don't wanna have to do that every time I use it... Also, could messing w/ the repeats knob alot (sending it into oscillation craziness) cause this to happen? Anyway, any help would be appreciated.
