Hey Guys!

I knocked out a couple of fuzzes this weekend. They're both being traded to a friend for some of his art. The art on the pedals is his art as well.

Open Discussion / Simple Buffer Schematic
March 02, 2015, 02:39:41 PM
I've previously built this buffer on vero, but I'd like to make an etch layout for it. I worked up what I think may be the schematic. Would anyone mind looking it over?

Thanks!

Open Discussion / Reuse Enclosure After Bad Etch
February 23, 2015, 11:27:33 AM
Hey Guys!

I had a particularly bad etch a couple weeks ago and I'd like to salvage the enclosure.

Do any of you reuse enclosures after a bad etches? If so, any tips on getting them ready to re-etch?

Sanding materials or techniques?

Thanks!

Build Reports / Buzzsaw Fuzz (tweaked Hyperion on vero)
December 31, 2014, 09:47:32 AM
A quick one-off as a thank you gift for my buddy. Hyperion clone with a 2N3904 subbed for the 2N2907A. Etched with muriatic acid and hydrogen peroxide.

I wish I would have made the switch wiring a little neater, but it sounds HUGE!

General Questions / Unwanted Crackling Paint
December 18, 2014, 07:52:44 AM
Hey Guys!

Just wanted to get some insight on a problem I've come across.

When I paint an enclosure, I put a coat on and bake it for 30 min on 150. I typically let it cool for 30 min or so before putting on a second coat.

Every once in a while the paint will mysteriously crackle up. It doesn't expose any metal, just wrinkles up. I think I have it narrowed down to the paint brand (Rustoleum), but I can't say for sure. Have any of you experienced this? Any tips on how to prevent it?

Build Reports / Forest Echo (Sea Urchin)

Hey guys!

I'm in the process of building my first Madbean design. This is also my first attempt at etching a board and enclosure. I'm using Cody's methods for the most part except that I used muriatic acid and hydrogen peroxide instead of ferric chloride.

The results are not as good as I was hoping for, but probably as good as should be expected for a first try. I wasn't going for a distressed look, but that's how it turned out. Still pretty happy with it though.

The clear coat is curing now. I'll post an update when I get it wired tonight.

Introductions / Greetings from Central California
October 13, 2014, 12:38:47 PM
Here I am posting in the Parts Jar before I've even given a proper introduction. Apologies for the forum faux pas.

I'm John. I live in the San Joaquin Valley of California. I've been building pedals for about a year and a half now. I have 17 builds completed and about 6 more scheduled. I mostly just do little one offs for buddies. I've been building on vero from the beginning, but I'm looking forward to getting into etching my own boards. I just watched JMK's Eagle tutorials and recreated the Madbean Spark Plug schematic without any errors.

Hopefully I can be a contributing member of this community. Thanks in advance for all the help I'm sure to receive.

John
