Tech Help - Projects Page / Wah Pedal Gradual Volume Loss
December 08, 2014, 09:00:36 PM
Hello friends,

I was asked by a friend to take a look at his Landgraff wah pedal. He told me that when it was engaged there was a significant volume loss. I did some initial research and it was suggested that it could be the footswitch so I replaced it. Afterwards the pedal worked great. However after about a few minutes of playing the volume would gradually reduce. Not sure what else to check. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Let me know if pictures are needed and I can post some :)

Hey gang,

So I just posted a build pic of a 5 channel "click-less" true bypass relay looper. I used the relay kit from Mammoth Electronics http://www.mammothelectronics.com/Click-Less-True-Bypass-Relay-Module-Kit-p/035-cltba.htm
I also added a trim pot to each circuit to be able to adjust the LED brightness.

Now the issue I'm having is that I'm still getting a "pop" when the foot switch is engaged. Especially on the fifth/last channel. My understanding was that the "click-less" switch was intended to avoid this very scenario. Has anyone else experienced this problem? Is there a proven remedy? I'm looking forward to the communities help on this one.

Thanks!

Build Reports / 5 Channel Click-Less True Bypass Looper

Hello my friends! It's been a while since my last post but here is another looper pedal I built. This one is a 5 channel "click-less" true bypass looper. I used the click-less relay switch kit from Mammoth Electronics. I also added a trim pot to the each foot switch circuit to control the LED brightness.

Build Reports / EHX Holy Grail - Rehouse
August 22, 2014, 07:44:49 PM
Hello friends! Long time no post. Just wanted to share my first rehouse. I took a friends EHX Holy Grail and condensed it into a smaller 1590B enclosure and upgraded the power supply to the more common 9v. I feel like it came out very nice.

Happy Building,

Build Reports / 5 Ch Looper w/LED Bright Trim
August 21, 2013, 06:27:01 AM

So here is a 5 Channel True Bypass Looper I built. I also designed some 3PDT footswitch pcbs with a resistor and trim pot to control the individual brightness of each LED. It also make assembly and wiring a lot faster and easier :)

Build Reports / Neutrino Black with Mods
August 19, 2013, 11:21:32 PM
Here is a the "Black" version of Madbean's Neutrino (Lovepedal Eternity) with a clean blend mod by JMK Pedals and also a LED brightness trim feature like in VFE Pedals. Turned out great and I really enjoyed creating the pcb :)

Build Reports / Emerson EM-Drive Clone
August 14, 2013, 04:08:32 AM
Hey gang! Been a while since I posted anything on here. I just finished a clone of the Emerson EM-Drive based on the vero from Guitar FX Layouts and a retail version of the EM-Drive as a comparison. I had issues with the Guitar FX Layouts version, particularly the 2M resistor that was connected to 9v and the Base of the transistor. It always sounded spit-farty and gross. So, with some help from a friend, I ended up connecting one side of the 2M resistor to the Collector and the other side to the Base of the transistor and it worked so much better. I'm not sure why I couldn't get it to work the FX way. Maybe someone can shed some light to that for me. I also added a 1M pull-down resistor to the circuit and I'm still trying out different transistors.

Happy building friends!

Build Reports / The Warhorse

This is a build I've been dreaming of for a while. It's a 2in1 pedal. One side is the Slow Loris (Red LED) and the other side is a Timmy (Green LED). Both circuits have a dedicated clean blend knob via JMK Pedals clean blend schematic. Both sides have their own 3-way clipping toggle switch (left and right). The final feature is a order toggle switch (middle) which allows you to select which one goes in the chair first. The guts are not nearly as clean as I'd hope and I needed to drill/re-drill a few holes. But now that I know it can be done and that it works, the next one should be mint!

This is a Slambox (Zvex SHO) I built for a local band, Rikavista to promote one of their shows. Got it etched at a trophy place. Came out pretty cool.

Hello friends,

Here is another "Timmy" clone courtesy of Madbeans schematic. I did the paint myself. Just a splash or two of pink and some glittery hair spray ;)

Hello friends,

Like others, I've finished my Sunking build and noticed a high pitched squeal. After reading some threads on the issue, most seemed to have solved the problem with the 7660SCPA chip. However, I have the correct chip and am still hearing the squeal. Furthermore, the pedal only works correctly via 9v battery. When I've tried to power it using a DC power supply from my pedalboard I get a very large hum and the pedal becomes useless. Any ideas on how I can (1) get rid of the squeal and (2) eliminate the hum when using the DC power supply.

Thanks for the help gang!

Build Reports / Chiron
January 03, 2012, 05:11:46 AM

I won a Sunking PCB from JakeFuzz during the 2011 PIF. I finally finished putting it together thanks to jkokura and Jamiroking, thanks guys! I named it after the Greek mythology centaur, Chiron. I plan to have it trophy etched with the centaur constellation and maybe add some more LED's. I also have a bunch of diodes to hopefully mod it with a dip switch but only have the BAT41's in it for now. Anyway, it sounds great and I decided to wire it buffer bypass.

Tech Help - Projects Page / Krankasaurus Gain Issue?
December 31, 2011, 04:36:28 AM
I just finished putting together a Krankasaurus, with a board I etched myself, and noticed that the gain/drive section sounded really woolly/fuzzy. The boost section sounded fine. I checked first to see if there were any solder bridges but everything looked ok. After double checking the parts I did noticed that the value for R5 was 430k instead of 470k. The place where I buys parts must have accidentally sent me a 430k resistor instead of a 470k. I never bothered to check the color code and just assumed they sent me the right stuff. Anyway, I wanted to know if this is the reason why it's not sounding right. I can't think of anything else that might be causing it. Thanks for the help gang :)

Hello,

I just got at V3 Sunking PCB and want to wire it 3PDT TrueBypass. I removed C3, R3, R28, 29, R30, and added RTB (1M) as per the directions. I also left S1 and S4 unconnected as instructed. The effect works when engaged but does not work in bypass mode. Perhaps my wiring is incorrect. This is how it looks currently:

Build Reports / Light Bright - Timmy Clone
December 01, 2011, 09:08:26 AM
Here is my "Light Bright" V1 Timmy Clone.
I built this using Mad Beans Timmy schematic. Thanks so much MB!
The pots are clear shaft pots I got from small bear along with the clear knobs.
