Hi to all!

I just built a redshift phaser. It works but to me there is a problem with the feedback knob.

When i turn it clockwise, after 50%, i got a big volume drop and it seems very strange.

Here's the kit instruction:

https://aionfx.com/app/files/docs/redshift_documentation.pdf

Any ideas? What can i check??? I have no voltage reference unfortunely.

Thanks

Hi to all,

I built a working Aquaboy Delay some times ago using standard dm2 components values. It's some days that i'd like ti try it with "aqua puss" components value but i have no idea of what i can get with theese mods. Can someone tell me the differences between the stock and the "mod" version?

THANKS

Hi to All!

Very simple question. I ordered a Gas Tank and a Junk Trunk PCB, I'd like to box them in one enclosure with two switches for activation. I don't have the exact measures of the pcbs so I don't know which enclousure order to fit them without problems. Any suggestion?

Thanks

Tech Help - Projects Page / Fritter Bass Mod
May 25, 2020, 03:15:16 AM
Hi to all,

This week I'll start building my Fritter.

I searched in internet and I see that the hotcake has a bass version too and even the newer guitar one has an internet switch to select guitar/bass operation.

If this change can be made using an internal switch I think this is a simple thing but can't find any schematic that let me explain how mod it from guitar to bass specs.

I took a look at the Fritter schematic and I see that there are only few components.

Any idea on the changes to get the bass version?

I think a bigger value of input and output cap but I could be wrong.

Any ideas? Thanks

Hi to all!

Here I am again. In the latest episodes I had problems mainly caused by "fake chips" etc... this time the situation is different (I think).

I built a naughty fish using the suggested components. For the Vactrol I used the Xvive replica as wrote.

The situation is this:

The pedal works but no envelope at all. I tried the lp/hp/bp switch and the audio change, same thing with lo-hi. The up/down switch seems to do nothing (no sonic changes), the gain works and the peak change almost nothing (I assume it works because at o position the sound changes a bit).

I saw that the top led (which indicates the envelope situation) is always off, it turns on and stay always on when i move the range switch to the right (RANGE UP). If I play etc (at all gain settings) when it is off it remains off and when it is on it remains on.

I also noticed a lot of volume boost when the gain pot is turned right.

Don't know how it is possibile. I double check'd the soldering points etc but no issue.

For C4 I used a nichion muse capacitor (non polarized) but I don't think this is the problem.

The Measurement I made are those:

Hi to all!

Here I am with another problem! I just built my Collosalus, it works but there are some problems.
I tried to set it but I have a "going" sound at a certain point of the sweep, the regen control seems to not work at all...so...I made some measurement and I found some Voltage errors.
I power my collosalus at 9V. Here the measurement:

General Questions / Transistor for a Phase 90 Clone
June 20, 2019, 03:40:21 AM
Hi to all!

I just finished a Phase 90 clone and it works pretty nice.

With the kit I received a matched quartet of 2n5457 instead of the classic 2n5952.

So, here the question: If I get a matched quartet of 2n5952 do I get some improvement (even small) or nothing change?

Thanks so

Tech Help - Projects Page / Pork Barrel 2019 Mods
June 08, 2019, 09:46:12 AM
Hi to all!

Finally I got my porkbarrel working. I'd like to know if are there some mods that could be interesting that are suitable for bass guitar?

I tried the speed mod but I don't like it so much.

Last thing, I found some times ago a mod that involves changing the  c13 capacitor but I can't find the reference. Can someone helps me with this?

Thanks

Hi to All!
I've got a problem with my new Pork Barrell pedal.
I tried it and acting the blend pot I've got only the dry sound no FX sound.
I use my multimeter to check voltage. All seems right except the IC 2 (MN3007). I read 0.6 and 0.7 at pin 7 and 8 instead of 4.7 as reference.
Fake MN3007??? What do I check to find what's wrong?
Thanks SO MUCH!

Hi to all!

Unfortunely I got problems with my Dirtbag Delay. Some days ago I bought a better box and today I've done a rehousing of my pedal.

I tested and now the modulation didn't work anymore!

I haven't touched/moved/resoldered any components and it's strange! I take off the pcb and re-tested. No modulation.

Before the rehousing the pedal is fully working.

Can You help me? is there something that can I check?

Volume pot works, blend knob works, repetition knob works, delay pot works. If I move the swith of the modulation I see that the "rate led" change (fixed in center position, fast blinking in vibrato mode, slower blinking in chorus mode). If I turn the speed knob I see that the modulation speed /up - slow down. I done the "depth mod". If I turn the depth pot... nothing change. And In any of the three combination of the switch...no modulation at all.

Ideas?
Thanks

Tech Help - Projects Page / Dirtbag 15V Problem!
September 01, 2018, 09:52:41 AM
Hi to all!

I built some times ago a 3205 version of the dirtbag. I ordered some days ago two xvive mn 3005 to give them a try.
I built a road rage (perfboard according to road rage schematic).
I give +- 18V and +-15v out of the 18/15 volt hole so I think it's fine.
When I connect it to my dirtbag pcb the voltage drop to 8.6V and it's strange. I measured it in + hole of dirtbag pcb and on the cathode side of D4... 8.6.
I also tested the output of the regulator. When the pcb isn't connected I get +-15v. When It's connected there's a voltage drop.

I use l 7815cv as regulator and an LT1054 as charge pump.

Can someone help me?

Thanks

Open Discussion / MN3205 Genuine or Re-Labeled?
August 20, 2018, 04:06:07 AM
Hi to all!

I've got a simple question about two MN3205 that I bought some times ago.

I made a try with a Memory Man Clone Project and they works. I've got also two CoolAudio v3205D and two CoolAudio V3250SD and I made some tries. The MN3205 seems to be less louder (less distortion too) than the CoolAudio ones.

So, here's the question... Do You think they're real MN3205 or are they fake Re-Labeled chips?

Thanks So

Hi to all!

I'm Mickey and I've got problems with my Aquaboy.
I've built a lot of pedals so I'm not a newbie. I also done a Deluxe Memory Man delay clone so this isn't the first time I build an analog delay.

The problem is that I got no delay! In bypass mode I get dry sound, when the pedal is engaged I'v got dry sound too. If I turn the knobs no results at all.

If I use a probe to test pin 3/4 of IC3 I only listen a "whii" sound.
I built it yesterday and today I've made some measurement.
Here's the results:

IC1
-----
PIN1 - 4.5
PIN2 - 4.5
PIN3 - 4.5
PIN4 - 0
PIN5 - 4.5
PIN6 - 4.5
PIN7 - 4.5
PIN8 - 9

IC2

PIN1 - 0.85
PIN2 - 1.8
PIN3 - 1.8
PIN4 - 0
PIN5 - 1.8
PIN6 - 1.8
PIN7 - 2.8
PIN8 - 1.8
PIN9 - 1.8
PIN10 - 3
PIN11 - 3
PIN12 - 1.8
PIN13 - 9
PIN14 - 1.8
PIN15 - 1.8
PIN16 - 0.08

IC3
-----
PIN1 - 8.9
PIN2 - 3.99
PIN3 - 6.77
PIN4 - 6.77
PIN5 - 0
PIN6 - 3.95
PIN7 - 4.26
PIN8 - 7.77

IC5
-----
PIN1 - 8.33
PIN2 - 3.95
PIN3 - 0
PIN4 - 3.99
PIN5 - 4.09
PIN6 - 4.15
PIN7 - 4.12
PIN8 - 7.77

The delay chip is an Xvive 3005
The Clock is an MN3101
The Compander is a CoolAudio V571D (I also tried a genuine Panasonic NE570, same results)

As You see I have some very wrong Voltage (I marked the most extreme in red)...
Can someone help me please?

Thanks So Much!
