Build Reports / First Pedals! (donut, florist, greenBean/slowLoris)
« on: September 04, 2020, 04:19:27 PM »
I got into pedals this summer and made a Donut (pink), Florist (blue), and a combined GreenBean/SlowLoris (yellow). I based my graphics off of loteria cards and took more freedom with the Dist/OD, adding some avatar references. Also, i just wanna thank this community because you guys answered a lot of my questions and helped me exceed my expectations of how these would turn out. thank you!!

I think they turned out great for being my first pedals and I only had one minor drilling error! Only complaint is that GreenBean needs the DRIVE pot to be below 10% or else it is way too much, but that might be because of the mods i made in order to exclude the LOW pot.

I also made a tiny pedalboard out of some wood i had:

my favorite design (favorite sounding was florist):

and here's some wiring:

everything baaaarely fit on this one:

edit: i also wanna point out the graphics are just on photo paper from walgreens (coated with armor-all) glued onto the enclosure with elmers and a bit of superglue, it seems to be holding up well enough, but also i've only had them for about a month. I think this is a great option if your trying to minimize costs. I followed this video.

General Questions / Can I omit LOW pot on GreenBean??
« on: July 15, 2020, 11:04:11 PM »
Uh oh, so I'm making a Green Bean but I decided I only wanted the 3 typical pots and left out the LOW pot. I had read on the Pork Barrel that its BLEND pot could be omitted without any other changes and I assumed the same would apply for the Green Bean. I still don't fully understand schematics, if the pot isn't there will it be like a break in the circuit or does it continue another way?

(I am also missing a Si transistor and I currently just have some wire in its place which is probably the reason why the pedal isn't working right now, but I'm still curious about the omitted pot)!

General Questions / Can I cut off third lug on stero jack?
« on: July 14, 2020, 06:30:18 PM »
I accidentally ordered stereo Lumberg 1/4" jacks instead of mono. I'm doing a pretty tight build (Slow Loris and GreenBean in 1590BB, also open to advice on that) and the extra contact and lug of the stereo jack is getting in the way. I was able to bend down the extra lug so it is flat, but I was wondering if I can cut off the second, shorter contact? Also is it fine if the extra lug is left unused or does it need to be wired to ground?

I am attaching picture because I might be explaining it wrong:

Audio/Video Demos / Florist Wrong Regulator (LM78L06)
« on: July 12, 2020, 10:37:42 AM »
Hello, the florist BOM listed LM78L05 which I ordered from Tayda. However I now realize it is Surface mount and the pcb is for 3-pin. After searching on tayda, from what I understand the 3-pin version is called LM7805 (no extra L). I am confused because I ordered the piece with the correct name so is this an error on the BOM or is there a way to use the surface mount version on the pcb??

General Questions / Florist Blend control?
« on: July 09, 2020, 12:10:16 PM »
Description:  CCW - no effect mixing, 1/2 up - chorus, CW - vibrato.

I'm confused, does this mean CCW is essentially bypass, 1/2 up is only Chorus and CW is only vibrato?
What would the in between positions do?

Also, is vibrato just like faster chorus or is it actually completely changing the effect?

General Questions / Question about voltages for transistor
« on: June 17, 2020, 11:35:25 AM »
Hello, first time building a pedal (Donut) and there is a section at the end of the PDF that gives voltages for the transistor. I'm not sure what this information means or how it should be affecting the way I build it/parts I buy. Would appreciate if anyone could explain it. (The chart I'm referring to: Q1:5088, C:6.88v, B:0.77v, E:200mV)
