I was working on aMuffin Factory from Pedal PCB and I noticed the diodes I bought are listed at 49 HFE and the requirements that are for the pedal are 55-65. Can I use these diodes or do I need to buy new ones. Also how can I tell what the CBE leads are?

I am looking for a tutorial on how to read a schematic. I am trouble shooting a pedal that I am having trouble with but I do not know where to begin with the signal path. Well I know where to begin but after that I am confused.
