I'm looking to build a very small boost board for putting straight into guitars. As solo boost as it were. So a clean +-20dB boost. This would be inline in your guitar and activated with a push button on your volume knob (For instance).

The Ernie Ball Majesty does this really well.

The idea is I'd put it on some of my guitars, and offer it as a service for people for whom I am working on their guitars.

Any thoughts, caveats, suggestions?

I've been building a lot of old school microphone preamps, compressors and EQs of late, and the one thing they seem to do a lot of is use discreet op-amps. I was wondering if anyone has tried these in pedal builds. They are much larger than IC op amps though.

Debugging is a skill I wish to work on. One of the tools I think would be useful would be an audio probe. If anyone has recommendations I'm all ears (or eyes as the case may be)

I building the Slow Loris as per the instructions.  I had assumed that C3 (30pF) was a ceramic cap based on the value.  But for the life of me I can't find a 30pF Ceramic Cap, 33pF yes, but not 30.

Any guidance would be appreciated.
