Hey everyone.  I am still in the diode destroyer category,  so please forgive the new question.  I built the bonamassa fuzz from Panos and I get no signal regardless of pedal on or off.  This uses the breakout board and I am assuming something is wired wrong.  Any thoughts?

Mods / Harbinger -> KR mega vibe
April 19, 2014, 10:38:53 PM
Hi everyone.  I have always loved the KR vibe sound.  To me, it lusher, thicker, bassier, and has more volume on tap than my gold deja vibe.  Does anyone know of the mods I could do to the Harbinger to make it more KR mega vibish?  Thanks in advance.  Happy Easter!

Tech Help - Projects Page / Solder pad melted
March 31, 2013, 03:09:39 AM
Anyone ever had a solder pad melt when soldering a component to the board?  It's so frustrating.  I was almost finished and the last two components had their solder pads melt and left no connection to the board.  Any idea what causes this?  Solder gun to hot?  Heated too long or too close to the board?

Have a good one....

Hi everyone.  You may have seen my earlier post regarding how to properly debug a board using an audio probe.  Well, I have been trying to debug a BOR clone from MEK.  I have a few builds under my belt, including a few of the more simple madbean builds.  the BOR is slightly more complex that anything I have built and it shows because it is not working.  Here is the problem:

1)  guitar sound when by-passed - no sound when pedal engaged - no LED light either
2) 9V is reaching the board
3) after probing I do not get a signal after the first 2N7000 MOSFET - no voltages either
4)  I get a signal with the audio probe on the above MOSFET on the middle pin (ground, i think) only
5) triple checked components with DMM and reflowed solder, cleaned tracks with small exacto to remove potential solder bridges
6)  Will triple check the wiring.

The manual can be found here along with the schematic:

I think I may have a short to the ground somewheres, but I am such a noob at this.  Any thoughts from you guys are well appreciated.  Thanks in advance.

Tech Help - Projects Page / Using an audio probe
January 28, 2013, 05:05:04 PM
Hi Everyone,

I need to de-bug a pedal and it is boxed up.  I can't figure out the problem by visual inspection and will now turn to an audio probe; it will be my first time using one.  In terms of wiring, do I need to disconnect anything from the circuit?  Please keep in mind the pedal is boxed up as if it were ready to be played.

Thanks for looking and reading the noobish question.

Hey guys.  What is your technique for soldering pots?  Wrap the wire around first?  Do you prime the pots with solder first or prime the wire with solder?  Just wanted your take on this.  To me its the most difficult technique.

Thanks

Tech Help - Projects Page / Blank circuit boards
September 15, 2012, 03:32:59 PM
Hi everyone.  I would like to begin etching my own boards; however, I do not know of a reputable place to purchase blank boards.  Anyone know of a good place? There are no electronics supply store where I live.  Thanks!

Hi guys,

I have a quick question concerning a GGG tubescreamer kit with the "expensive boutique mods."  I put together the kit and I get a by-pass signal, the LED works, and the pedals "kinda" works when engaged.  When the pedal is turned on, it sounds more like a fuzz face with limited gain.  I have tried different chips and it is pretty much the same result.  Also, the IC pin values are nearly double to what they should be!  IC pin 4 is supposed to read 0, but still measures about 6.5.  I re-wired everything, checked components, checked orientation, looked for solder bridges and tested continuity and everything passes.  Anyone have ideas? Faulty component? One thing about this pedal is that you have clipping options between LEDs and diodes and when switching between the two, there is definately a volume increase, but it still sounds like a fuzz no matter which clipping option.  There is a 1 meg drive pot installed, but there is not nearly any gain on tap.

Any comments or suggestions would be greatly appreciated and thanks in advance for looking.

Requests / Sunking
January 25, 2012, 05:21:20 PM
Hi Everyone.

I am really enjoying this site and learning about DIY pedals.  It's a really great site!

Unfortunately, I have a Sunking board that I purchased a while back and finally getting around to building it.  Due to computer issues I lost the directions. :(

Does anyone have the BOM and layout they could send to me?  It would be very appreciated!

Thanks,
Brandon
