Build Reports / 1590A Klon
November 02, 2013, 11:36:17 AM
My first 1590A build. Always thought the enclosure size was too small and limiting but since getting a Ditto Looper and now this small Klon I am warming up to these tiny enclosures.

Surprisingly the build together went very smoothly, limited curse words while building which I was not expecting. My Envirotex finishing is even getting better, so all around a enjoyable build.

The PCB is an Apis PCB from Beehive Pedals. Nicely designed PCB that fit perfectly. I found using ribbon cable made this build way easier.

Other than that the pedal is just a standard true bypass Klon. Sold my 1790NS Klon on vero (built when the circuit was degooped 5 or so years ago) to fund this smaller build. Same sound with a third of the real estate on my pedal board.

Build Reports / 4 Delays and a Reverb
September 09, 2013, 09:52:05 AM
Having not built a complete pedal in almost exactly four years I decided to build some delay pedals this past winter/spring. Just got around to finishing them now. I wrote about it http://pdfelectronics.com/delay-project/ (wip) if you're interested.

It was a learning experience, using Inkscape, learning how to use Envirotex, building on all these nice PCBs, etc. Anyways I think the pedals turned out pretty good. It was fun building them all and now getting to play them. During this little project I managed to also acquire a Dito Looper and volume pedal. Anyways I've been getting some pretty cool ambient type sounds with all these pedals going!

(got the pots labelled wrong so I couldn't use the PCB mounted pots, what a mess :( )

Anyone know the font used on Bean's ZPDX graphic?

Emailed Brian but haven't heard back yet.

General Questions / ZPSX Technical Queries
April 24, 2013, 05:13:47 PM
Having just finished  a ZPDX I have two questions...

1. The build docs mention how R31 (2K2) can set the delay time/range. This is on page 8 of the build doc. I can't possibly see how this resistor would set the delay time. It is setting the gain of that particular filter op-amp stage. This R31 must surely be a type no?

2. My feedback pot increases the feedback well too quick  :P I start getting run away oscillation too early for my liking. Would increasing the 5K1 resistor (R41) cure my issue?

Thanks
Chris
