General Questions / What Happened to Chunk Chunk?
October 21, 2018, 06:45:32 AM
Hey Folks,

I bought a Chunk Chunk PCB about five years ago, and unfortunately, life intervened and it went into storage :( I recently came across it and have now finished building it (although it's not working - I'll save that for another post). Just wondering what happened to the Chunk Chunk. I can't find anything about it on the MadBean site. I thought it was a really popular build?

Cheers,

Chris

General Questions / Wire Question
November 10, 2014, 02:01:46 AM
Hi Folks,

I'm just finishing up my first project - a ChunkChunk. Overall it went pretty well and I learnt a few things along the way. By mistake I ordered the wrong type of pot (they had lugs instead of pins) so I had to attach them to the PCB using wire which brings me to my question. Initially, I thought it would be better to use reasonably stiff wire with a single strand (?) however this proved to be a problem because once soldered it wouldn't bend. I then tried thinner stranded wire but I found that when I tried to poke it through the PCB's holes individual strands would bend sideways which ain't good. I then tried tinning the wire first but it tended to make the wire too thick and almost impossible to get through the holes.

So I was wondering if people have any recommendations for which type of wire to use for the various types of connections (component-to-PCB, offboard, etc.).

Cheers,

Chris

Hi Folks,

I've finished my Chunk Chunk PCB and would now like to wire it up. For this one I don't want to use DC input. I'm not clear how to do this - what happens to the connection between the input sleeve and the DC jack (as shown on the Standard Wiring Diagram? Are there any other connections that need to be made?

Cheers,

Chris

Hi,

I've finally got around to building my Chunk Chunk. I've assembled the board however I've bought the wrong type of pots - the lugs have a 90 degree bend but they have eyelets rather than pins. Also, the eyelets don't go past the base of the pot so even if they were pins they wouldn't be long enough for mounting.

Could someone point me to the right sort of pots to mount on a Chunk Chunk board. BTW, I'm in Melbourne, Australia.

Cheers,

Chris

Hi,

I'm currently ordering the parts for a Chunk Chunk from Mouser. They have a large number of pots to choose from. I'm going to put the board in a 1590BB box. Which Mouser pots would be suitable?

General Questions / Full List of Parts for Project
September 20, 2012, 12:12:36 AM
Hi,

I recently bought a Chunk Chunk pcb. I'm new to pedal building. The .pdf file for the Chunk Chunk lists the parts required for the PCB however it doesn't list all the parts required to build the actual unit. Am I right in thinking that the following list is what's needed:

6 Knobs
1 Footswitch
1 Input Jack
1 Output Jack
1 9VDC Input Jack
1 9V Battery Connector
1 9V Battery Holder
1 LED
PCB Standoffs
Hookup Wire

Have I forgotten anything? Any advice as to which brands are good?

Cheers,

Chris
