General Questions / Liquid rosin flux in the uk?

Anyone know a good supplier of this at a decent price?
Looking for something like the following link, but they don't ship outside the US:

Noticed when I turn my Boneyard on, the led on the hi-gain footswitch goes off. I can still toggle between the normal and hi-gain, but the led only works if the pedal effect is bypassed. Anyone got a thought as to why it would do this? Pretty sure it worked fine bfore, and I can't think of any reason why it would do this. The wiring checks out, and everything is as the build docs.

Regarding the holes on the boards for pot wires, are they laid out to any specific format, or did you just choose a neat spacing between the holes?
I'm basically wondering the holes would be a compatible width for the alpha pots that have the right-angled pcb mount legs. Want to try mounting the board on my next project like that.

Recorded using the video mode on my digital camera, so it's only ok quality. But gives a rough idea of how the finished pedals sound.

For the pot linked below, does it act as 2 individual pots controlled by one shaft, or does it blend between them?

Build Reports / My Uproar board
February 15, 2011, 08:01:09 AM
Was hoping to have this finished but 2 pots are on backorder, and my enclosure was too small to accomodate the extra switches. Got the board finished though. Put the 4580dd's in, and I have a pair of NE5532P's and a pair of 4558P's too for experimenting. Got a TLC2272CP as well, but I forgot to order a second. May get another for extra options, and then see how they all sound.
Since I've ordered a larger enclosure, I may put the 2 mod switches on a footswitches and have the clip remain a toggle.

Got a pair of these inverse action tweezers the other week, thought they'd come in handy. Never realised just how useful they are. They're perfect for holding components for soldering. Straight ones are good when you start, then when the board gets full, the angled ones can get to pretty much anywhere.
I totally recommend if you haven't got a set, go get some NOW.

Mods / ChunkChunk experiment
February 11, 2011, 08:32:31 AM
Just tried some 2n5457's in the ChunkChunk. The Boogie 57 pedal uses these for a lower gain pedal, so I decided to see how it sounded.
First thing is it cuts the gain by about half. Dimed gain on the 2n's are about 50% when using the stock J201's.
With the 201's, I find that 0-1 on the gain pot is clean, then from 1 to about 5 it's tight crunch, then after that it's just cotton wool. With the 2n's, it seems to have a better, more linear range, rather than 3 'blocks'.

I've gone back to the 201's as I prefer more gain, but if you've built a ChunkChunk and found it a bit too much, I'd suggest at least giving the 2n's a try. You'll need to bias around 6v.

I woke up this morning and he won't leave....

Oops, no, not that.
Bought a pair of BC190C's to put in my Crybaby. I was anticipating the TO-92 style plastic ones, but they're the metal cap style, as pictured below. So I don't know which leg is which. I presume the small metal tab on the cap is to designate one of the legs.
Can anyone help me id the legs?

General Questions / Fine tuning a ChunkChunk?
February 07, 2011, 10:32:34 AM
Just finished my build and it's fantastic. When I first fired it up, I was a little underwhelmed. Had a lot of gain, but the low end was a bit 'wooly' when chugging away on the low E, sounded more like a fuzz pedal. But once I backed the gain off to just over halfway, it tightens up beautifully.
I was looking at the Boogie 57 build on GuitarPCB and it uses 2n5457's to lower the gain. Anyone tried it on the ChunkChunk?
An are there any ideal settings for the trimmers that I should pursue for fine tuning it? I set them all to 4.5v as specified in the build doc.

General Questions / Chunkchunk gain pot
January 13, 2011, 04:34:03 AM
Just received my pots from Smallbear for my Chunkchunk build, and they've sent me a linear 1M instead of and audio taper, for the gain pot. Would these be any issue just using the linear, or should I get them to rectify this and send an audio?

General Questions / ChunkChunk Capacitor question
December 24, 2010, 06:27:25 AM
Just received my ChunkChunk board and I'm ordering my parts now. One of the caps is listed as '100n', is this nf, or is 'n' used in this context in the same way you use 'r' for a low value resistor?
