Dear friends. Firstly, I regret because I don't speak (or write) English very well ...
I've built a LowRider. It works very well, but has 2 problems (not too big, but are problems, at least for me...). The OCT-UP is not very perceptible, and the 2-OCT-DOWN presents a slight delay in the bass notes (like the octave-note sounds a little bit before the original-note). They do not sound together.
About the octave-up, the best I got was a fuzz. I tried the MOD, but it didn't work. Also I tried to regulate by trimpot, but nothing changes so much. In the end I preferred to leave the C10 and C12 off and leave the fuzz in peace.
About the substitutions done, all of them were according to the instructions. I used 2N5458 transistors instead of the original 2SK30 (I used sockets, so I could test many other transistors, but really the best result was 5458 – I didn't find the 5457 in Rio de Janeiro). As I also didn't find the CD4013BCN, I used CD4013. The capacitors were ceramics (lowers values), polyester (little blues boxes) and electrolytic for higher values, when marked in the layout. For the three 1uF caps without polarity I used electrolytic NP (is it a problem?)
The steps that I've taken to try to resolve were double check the components values, wiring, soldering, footswitch and jacks wiring, orientation of components, ICs and potentiometers substitution by others of same values. How it was unsuccessful, I decide ask in this forum about others experiences.
Are these typical characteristics for the Low Rider or I did some mistake?
