I built up a current lover board and it's only putting out a clean signal, no flanging whatsoever.
Tinkering around I found that a wall wart will make the zener diode heat up, but with a fresh battery it's fine. I changed out the diode just to be on the safe side. Then I went through checking pinouts, polarity, and several cap and resistor values, but no love.
