If you have a 100k dual gang it will work just fine. You just need to remove the 2, 180k resistors that are in parallel with them (going from the FSB trace schem). I suspect Keeley had a hard time sourcing 100k dual gangs in long leg form and just used some parallel resistance. Removed those two resistors in my build and it works just fine. You're right tho, it's a crazy fuzz box.

Been getting back into Division 2 with fellow forumite @selfdestroyer. It's not a perfect game, but it checks all the boxes for me. Getting back in shape for the new expansion coming out. Also Cody's jealous of my outfit.

(Yes those are fringe chaps and cowboy boots and spurs)

Very cool!  What is on the bottom?

Just some thick ABS plastic.

I have seen this thing 4 other times from you and it still wows me.. Looks amazing!

Thanks buddy!

That is beautiful! It looks like it would have some kind of crazy octave fuzz in it.

I'm sure that was my original plan when I built the enclosure...

Build Reports / Midwell - Custom wooden enclosure content

A couple weeks ago I went to a house show/EP release party of a local band my brother-in-law works with (he does marketing/web stuff for them). Got to talking gear with the guitarist afterwards and we hit it off. Decided last weekend I wanted to make him a pedal. I ended up going way over board with this, but I'm pretty happy with how it turned out and he was super excited about it. Having quite the dad sense of humor and loving puns, I decided to build a mids EQ (Catalinbread VarioBoost clone) as the band name is Midwell.  ;D A couple years ago I'd started this wooden enclosure with a bent steel top that's just been sitting on my bench collecting dust, so I made the back cover and a plate for the jacks. I drew up custom layout in Eagle and added Steve Demedash's Incandenza relay bypass. Used my resin 3D printer to make the name badge (which got buggered in assembly  >:( ) and threw on some big ol' chrome/black knobs from BLMS.

An in process shot:

I'm going to redo the name badge as the screw holes were just a bit off and made the lower edge bend upwards, not to mention gashing the lower line of text with a screwdriver. But he's excited to use and they're going into the studio in a few weeks, so hopefully it'll be a useful tool in that process. Here's their Spotify link if anyone fancies a listen:

Nice work. That's been on my "to print" list for a while now, but D&D minis keep nudging it down the list. ::) Which SLA printer did you get, CJ?

Pretty sure Brian uses Elecrow. I've used them a lot as well for my boards. A lot of people I know have been using JLC PCB with very good results.

My go to one-knob, non-fuzz, is the Speaker Cranker. Yes, just another Electra, but it always sounds good.

That's interesting. I'd seen the 2nd pdf before as I originally intended it to be just a Beta Bass board. Then later read on FSB about the 4 cap differences to make the Beat Lead. Never came across the 2nd topography tho. Wonder why they changed it.

Thanks for the reply. Iíve ordered one.

I noticed you used the Mid circuit from the Beta Lead rather than the Beta Bass.
Was there a reason for this? Does it sound much different (after adjusting capacitor values)?

Thanks for the order. Should have a new batch of boards in next week and I can get it shipped out to you.

From my understanding the only difference between the Bass and the Lead were 4 cap values. The topography of the two version is the same, at least according the what I read.

Thanks guys. I'll try and get some sound clips together and make a vid.

Have the PCBs sold out already? Your site says itís available to backorder.

The first run of boards is sold out yes, but I've already ordered more.

Looking at the schematic, do you think it could be interesting to separate the gain dual pot into pre'ish and post'ish separate pots?

The gain control stock gives a great range of gain, so I don't know how useful it would be with separate pots, but it wouldn't hurt to try.
