Super nice! That polish job came out awesome

You can definitely use those. You just don't want to ever go lower than the suggested voltage. You just have to be sure the higher rated cap will fit (they sometimes get bigger as the voltage rating gets higher). I think you're safe with a 1uF cap, because they stay pretty small

I just used two 1uF film caps in parallel to get as close to 2.2uF as I could get. I picked the ones I found that were the largest values. I think I ended up with 2.1+uF

I saw this type recommended http://www.mouser.com/ProductDetail/Belden-Wire-Cable/8216-010100/?qs=sGAEpiMZZMu2Wyq3DnRvIv0fr3DdgsIY

I didn't even think about looking at the specs. But you are correct it's not RG6. It's  RG-174/U. It just seems like a small gauge to me

General Questions / Shielded Cable?
June 16, 2016, 11:37:07 PM
I'm about to order parts for my second tube amp build and was wondering what is normally used as shielded cable. My first amp was just the little firefly, which was easier to build than a lot of pedals and it didn't call for shielded cable.  Anyway do you guys use coaxial cable for your sheilded cable? That seems to be all I can find except for the guitar cable they used in the old Gibsons with the shielding exposed on the outside of the cable.

Necro thread, but is the IC oriented properly? You should really socket those things.

The IC is oriented correctly, but the wires for the power look pretty suspect at the solder joints. Have you taken the voltages for the pins of the IC?

Didn't realize these guys were so close to home. I've never ordered from them, but now I know who to order from if I need something quicker. Guess I would have to pay tax though

Changed the Macrons to the VTL5C3's and it made a huge difference.

That's weird. I usually get stuff from Smallbear pretty quick. Tayda takes a week or so just to ship out.

Omg! That etch came out awesome and I love the Back to the Future theme.
