General Questions / Footswitch for power outlet
July 08, 2014, 05:51:33 PM
I'm not sure this is the best category to post this thread, but... I want to build a footswitch to turn some stage lights on and off. I think that a spst would work, but I am concerned that the switch would needed to be grounded somehow. Has anyone built something similar. Thanks!

General Questions / Expression pedal
October 18, 2013, 12:19:26 AM
I'm still pretty new to the world of pedal building. I am trying to build an expression pedal from an a crybaby with the 100k hot pot, but want to put a switch to alternate between the treadle and a 100k pot I am going to mount to the side of the pedal. I think I can do this part, but it would be cool to add an LED as an indication to which pot is active. Would this require the use of a 3pdt switch?

Tech Help - Projects Page / pastyface wiring problem
February 21, 2013, 05:12:37 AM
so I think I screwed up the wiring for power on the pastyface prefab board. I used the standard wiring diagram so I have the red lead from the power jack going to the square 9V pad on the middle of the board. the black battery lead is going to the input jack. I'm pretty sure this is wrong... Help? I think I did not wiring for the positive polarity. Can I just switch the battery leads from their current locations? Also do I need to use the also, do I need to reverse the connection to the led?

Anyone have a lead on a 47uf low profile electrolytic cap? They are on backorder at mouser. Should I just use a tant?

Nice. I remember seeing this before but completely spaced on it.

So now, any good explanations or guides on what caps are good for what purposes?

Which caps did you all use. Is there some sort of guide to choosing the type of cap?

How do I tell which direction they go in the board? Also, why are there two Ground/9V pads on the board.

Just finished it.

Did the Albini spec's. I would agree... like a fuzzy overdrive. I am letting the guitarist in my band use it and he is quickly becoming obsessed. He is using an old ampeg V2 that is pushed pretty hard and the pepper spray just really adds something amazing for heavy parts.

Awesome. The only problem is that now I am spending time thinking about building when I should be playing.

Is there a good beginner book on understanding circuits better. I want to be able to understand and not just follow directions.

Open Discussion / Troubleshooting - Pepper spray
January 21, 2012, 11:29:17 PM
Finished it today. Took it to rehearsal and it just killed... until it popped and just made hum and nothing else. I took it home and there were no loose connections other than the jacks which I tightened up. Tried it again and it worked, but their was not nearly as much gain? Granted it was the difference between driving a tube amp and going through a USB interface, but still. Could I have blown a cap or diode? Also I can kill the volume with both knobs, which doesn't seem to be correct to me.

Open Discussion / 9V ground on PCB for pepper spray

Does the ground hole need to be connected to anything on the fabricated pepper spray board. it is absent on the wiring diagram in the instructions.

Will the voltage rating of an electrolytic cap matter?
