I just got the same Problem a few days ago. I played my Pitch Shifting Delay and kicked the Rub-a-Dub and shhhhhhhhhhh. Horrible white Noise, increasing with the Pot turned up. It worked perfectly before.
After i pulled the DC Plug and put it back in, it was fine again until I turned on any Drive Pedal or something with a higher Output. Maybe the Circuit/Belton Brick is overdriven by higher signals?

Did anyone find a Solution?
I don´t use tantalum caps, just normal electrolytics, no Regulator from Tayda. But i will measure it tomorrow, if it gives 5V.

Absolutely stunning Build! Love it, so clean and tidy and the Outside is unbelivable awesome!

I like the simple Design of the Colorsound Overdriver.
How did you get the color on the decal be so visible?? When i tried to put an orange printed, transparent decal onto a black painted Enclosure...the letters on the decal vanish, because the black Background is to dominant.  :(

I´also a Lurker, named Fabian. At the moment i´m studying EE with Informationtechnic and Mediatechnic with topics like soundengineering, filming, cutting etc.
Building Effectpedals is my Hobby and i´m still stocking my bench and building my workshop, that´s why i have done only a few pedals till today, but i want to do a lot more in the future (got a lot of hundrets of GERms in my stock) :)

Hi,

I could not find any other Threads about this Method, so i hope it´s okay, when i´m opening a new one for this. Sorry, if my English is not that good, i´m from Germany, but i´m doin my best!

I just finished my Prototyping setup with Breadboard, Breakoutbox with Voltage Sag Pot and all that. Before i made the Breakout Box i got very much Noise from my Laptop, Lights etc. coming in the Signal Line, because the Jacks etc. were not shielded. Then i put all the Stuff in an Enclosure and the main Noise was gone, so that i could finally hear the effect and changes, that i do in the circuit. Before that i din´t even heard the fuzz Sound...it was coverd by Noise.

But there was one Problem left...Hum!! It was not a big issue, because i could now analyse and listen to the circuit effect/sound and could tweak. Then i used the Voltage Sag Pot, to try out, which effect it has on transistor starving. After a very small amount of turning the Pot...at i think 8,7 Volts, ALL the Hum was gone! And the circuit sounds still the same, so i am working now always with a little less Voltage, controlled with the Pot and my circuit is completely Noise free!

One further Question. Do you think these ones are no fakes?

Okay thank you for the answer. I wrote them to give the diodes back. Thought these Asian Ebay Stuff would be kinda cheaper, but in result, when i order my parts at Musikding or UK-Electronic here in Germany, i get better Quality and really the parts, that i want and not some kind of Fake..and pay only a little bit more, maybe 10c or something, depending on type.
Hope those 1n914 are okay, because of the yellow band, but i saw the same type on some diode-type-list page on the internet, too.
The only parts i will still order in the future, are Resistors from SunElectronics...a whole lot of working ones for around 20€, within delivery costs.
And maybe some usual Transistor Types, like 2n3904 or 5088...can´t get em cheaper here in Europe, even if some of em are not working. But as i read, i will get my BC108Cs, BC107 and J201er ones better here in Germany from reliable Deliverers, than the not working, leaking and fake ones from Asia.

Thank you for your Help.

I ordered some 1n34a from an ebay Store, named Zeuselectronics. They showed a picture of the standart looking Glashousing germanium diode and described them as ge diode in the description, too.
Today i got the package and the look weird. They are very small, orange and the Ring is printed is white. The only mark, thats printed on is an "H". Did i got fake Diodes?
Heard from other cases with Tayda orders. From them i ordered 1n914 and 1n60p Diodes, they are orange/copper colored too and have a black, the 60p (like these http://image.cn.made-in-china.com/2f0j01cQtTpkfamESw/%25E8%2582%2596%25E7%2589%25B9%25E5%259F%25BA%25E4%25BA%258C%25E6%259E%2581%25E7%25AE%25A1%25EF%25BC%258D1N60,1N60P.jpg ), and the 914er a yellow ring (like these ones http://www.flickr.com/photos/goa2008/3771606953/ ) , hope these are okay.

How do i measure the diodes and how schould be the results? Is it just Voltage or Diode testing Option on my dmm??

My picture files are too large to upload, i post them tomorrow, but the 34a ones look similar to the quoted picture of the 914er.
