Build Reports / Re: Etched my first board!
June 15, 2020, 09:05:26 AM
Great job on the etch! I don't (want) to remember my first etch. I am 97% positive it didn't work. Also keep that used etchant...you can use it to etch enclosures too.

What is datapol?

I ruined my first waterslide trying to apply it; more paper coming later today.  Something this size is definitely going to take a lot of touch to apply.
What if you did it in 2 halves? Maybe make them and then apply one, let it dry a little then apply the other. You would need to line them up but it may be easier and cheaper to do this. I've never tried it this way but it may be an option. Any hoo, sorry I couldn't be more help.

General Questions / Xvive mn3007

This is a great question. I too have a couple MN3007 builds I'd like to complete. Has anyone tested these? Could you maybe shed some light on the subject?

Edit: never mind. My phone glitches and didn't post until late.

Are you planning on doing color or is it going to be just a black graphic? If you are not doing a color graphic might I suggest an alternative. Reverse the image and iron it on like you would an etch. Then just leave it. Clear coat over it and voila! A transferred image that is tough as nails and looks like a silk screen. I've done this loads of times and it looks great and no one will know the better.

Hey thanks! It's a learning process. I wish I could make them look better, but it's a learning process. I appreciate you.

Well you've had some killer etches lately and they only seem to be getting better. Keep up the good work bud!

Open Discussion / Congrats to Jimi

Hey all,
Just wanted to say congrats to Jimi. He has been knocking it out of the park with his enclosure etches. I know from experience that they are time consuming, expensive, and take a lot of patience to do. So, Congrats Jimi and keep up the good work!

I got one of these a few years ago and have loved it ever since. I even recommended it to Lawrence from Lovemyswitches and he was over the moon for it. I still use desolating braid for some, very few, things but that pump is aces!

Nice work! The Hoof is one of my favorites. Since his died, you might be able to salvage the 1308's from it for this build... depending on how it died. It's probably fixable. Unless it got crushed by a tank or something.
Yeah once the things go back to normal (ish) he is going to drop it off for me to fix. He likes the clone I built for him better. He said it sounds more dense. That's probably due to the 2n2222 transistors I put in there.

When ever I do water slide decals I do a test print on regular paper. First I mark the paper to see what side it prints on. Then I print the test page. I then cut the water slide paper and tape it over the test print with painters tape. I always cut the water slide a little bigger for two reasons. One so I have some thing to tape to, and two just Incase if misalignment. Once I have the water slide taped to the test print I put the paper back in the tray and reprint.
I can't say I've done a decal as big as you are planning but this method almost always works. I use a Samsung laser printer and usually don't change the settings on the printer at all. Once again this is a really big decal. The largest one I did was for a 1590DD and it worked just fine. I also did a 1790xx too.
I hope this helps.

That looks really good, Mike. Nicely done.

Thanks Jimi. The wiring isn't my best but he needed it pretty quick. So, once it was in and working it was out the door.

Build Reports / Hoof
May 26, 2020, 06:22:40 PM
Hey Guys,
Here is a clone of the EQD Hoof. I did this as a trade to my friend Evan. He gave me all the AWESOME Spawn figures before. His original hoof died and was broke due to COVID-19 and him being out of work. He did find a couple more spawn figures and what can I say...I'm a sucker for spawn stuff! So I built him a new Hoof pedal. This is almost a exact copy. I used some 2n2222 Transistors for this build, I think they sound a bit better. This wasn't my cleanest wiring job but hey, they can't all be perfect! HAHA Just kidding. Anyways here are a couple pictures. I didn't shoot a video but we all know what a modified muff sounds like. Enjoy!

Dude, I love the action figures! You should only do build reports with those from now on...anyway, great build!
Thanks man! I got the spawn figures as a "Thanks" for building a Hamlet for a friend of mine. I was cleaning up some stuff in the basement and came across them. I plan on taking a picture with a spawn figure from most of my builds from now on. Thanks again!

You know, I did that board layout and never actually built one.  I need to do that soon.
The pedal is really nice. The shift control is pretty impressive.

I love that delay, is that Spawn?

It's a wonderfully sounding delay. Yes it is spawn. I am a MASSIVE spawn and Todd McFarlane fan. Figured I'd start posing my pedals with some figures. Haha!
