LMS order placed and will straighten out the footswitch and LED wires before I close this bad boy up.  Standby for mediocre but meaningful demos...

Nothing too dramatic here but it's together and working.  Aleph, the brown would really have been a cool idea now that you mention it but alas, it was a trick of the light.  It's straight up black.  The clear coats got shot and the jack holes drilled.  So it's done and I'm going to totally rip off your knob idea of using greens and gold.  I've been so busy at the shop now that I'm back that I get some time on this when I can spare it.

All good though with some time spent working on recent Supro product (holy crap do those folks know how to wire a tour quality chassis...but makes it a bitch to service), as well a Divided-by-13, and Evil Robot chassis.  Fun stuff.  Next weekend I'm getting in a Magnatone and a cool Brownface Fender Princeton Chris Stapleton signature.  Good to be back in action.

I HATE the connector wiring look so the next version will be normal wiring.  Still if it needed to be serviced...  Also worth noting that the dented electro's at the top really aren't.  Weirdness of lighting I guess.

The weird part is that modulation effects and delay are out so it kinda gets limited to distortion.  I have the original Tonex capture box and got some cool caps of my Traynor TS25.  It's a cool tech and I enjoy playing stuff that people upload but haven't had a chance to record anything so it doesn't get used outside of the fun of auditioning other peeps gear.

I like the idea but haven't leaned into using it enough.

Still if you could do generic pedal captures, that would be pretty cool.  Not sure how that would work but a great idea.

Bingo, the Proposition.  I like that circuit and I thought it did a really good job of covering the tone of the original but the Rockman sound is also based on the delay ("reverb") and chorus so it took a fair bit of stuff to duplicate.

Still it sounded very cool and I've loved the pedal.  I don't get a chance to play it out live but at some point praise band music will come around to 80's radio rock and I'll be at the forefront :-)

I'm curious to see how this pans out for you in terms of sounding like a rockman.  Hoping for some sound clips??

Not going to win any awards for ripping off someone else's graphics but I kinda dig this.  My other board will get more of a channelized with labels approach but this one is the personal stash.

Let this one dry and shoot it with clear.  Not sure I'll get back into the shop with the Chicago Marathon going on this weekend but looking forward to getting this thing buttoned up.

I'm nowhere near my old Kraken build but I don't recall having any vol bump.  Are you sure all the part values are correct?  I know, dumb question but worth a second look to make sure.

Build Reports / Aleph Null Peacock Parallel Fuzz
October 03, 2024, 12:19:10 AM
I really enjoyed the progress on this project and when boards became available I pounced.  This is the first board I've built up in my insanely limited home space now that I'm an urban condo dweller.  That said, it's forced me to spend a bunch more time on building since I don't have all my stuff at arm's reach and appreciate the time a lot more.

Once I get this thing finished up I'll get more into detail, but initial impressions are what I liked about the demo's I heard.  The parallel concept is really slick with two differently voiced fuzzes.  I'm surprised this doesn't happen more often with any effects but I suppose that's the entire concept of things like the Klein Bottle from VFE and suddenly it makes more sense as well.

Anyway I'll update this as I go and try to get a few sound samples of my own in.

It gets harder to get out of bed every day.  And just when you thought half the country being blown away, flooded, or burned to the ground wasn't enough...

Aw man, I hadn't seen this thread in ages.  Reminded me that I miss my lazer.  I boxed it up and sent it off to CA before I did a 180 on my plans and stayed in IL.  Its a great lazer but TBH it's too big and too smelly for this little condo in Chicago.

Bio77 if you ever feel the need to experiment and spend any time around OC hit me up and I'll send you the key so you can steal it.

Damn this is cool.  I'm pretty much a self-professed Belton brick hater but this sounds amazing!  Nicely done!

Superb build Chris.  Great write up too, I'm going to have to revisit this.
