Thanks! Just put that one in my que. i feel the same way about the wampler podcast. Sometimes it's great but they cannot stay focused and they think they are way more entertaining than they actually are.

Also, have you tried the Merlin u-boat? Pretty good synth sounds on that one: http://www.valvewizard.co.uk/uboat.html

Thanks for this post!  Just at the start of a similar journey. I have read a lot of great stuff about the broughton effects: http://broughtonaudio.bigcartel.com/products

I get the sense that the joshwah doesn't get very "wet" sounding and i like that about the source audio bef. Is that accurate? Also, what's better about his oc2 version?

Sounds like you might enjoy the Micro Synth... if only someone was to produce a PCB for it... 8)

So..you're saying there is a chance?
I don't see why not, it's not hard to convert to LM13700.

I would definitely build it...

I'd love that! I had a big box one years ago that had issues with true bypass but sounded great.

Finally played a bunch of my OC2 > my Source Audio Bass envelope filter last night on bass. I had one of those moments where I realized where half the sounds I have had in my head came from... or at least how to reproduce them. It's a total Mike Gordon of Phish sound through and through but you can also hear a lot of the synthy Stevie Wonder type bass as well.

Anyone else love this combo of effects?

I have a madbean nautilus and a merlin submarine that I need to try out. AS hard as I've tried, though, I feel like it's really tricky to get a good consistent autowah sound on bass with the nautilus. The Source Audio is all digital but sounds really good with minimal fiddling. I'm going to give the nautilus another run after the holidays, though.

I'll be building one up this weekend - I asked Brian himself about the mids mod on the new boards and this was his response:

The Mids pot goes in place of R18 and usually a value of 20kB or 25kB works well. The way I would do it is
wire one leg of R18 on the PCB to lug 1 of the mids pot. Solder in a small resistor (around 4k7) between lugs 1 and 2. The use a return wire from lug 3 to the other spot for R18 on the PCB. This makes the Mids control a variable resistor and the small resistor you soldered in place is a "stopper". IOW, it prevents C10 from going all the way to ground when the mids control is fully counter-clockwise (which would mess up the tone control).

So yea - I'm going by his schema, which is a little different than Diamonds (though i'm sure they do the same thing).

I'm also adding a switch so I can turn it on or off - so essentially a DPDT ON-ON toggle switch, R18 goes to the center lugs of the switch - one side has a resistor between the lugs (whatever value from the parts list), the other side has the mids pot. This way I can turn it off altogether for recording, or have the mids on for jamming and live stuff.

Dunno if that helps you - but it's an option - put in the switch, and if you don't like the mids, just switch it off. :-)

Very old thread, but does anyone know if you use this method if you need to remove the R18 resistor? Some methods on here have you removing it and others don't. Sounds like you remove it, but just want to be sure.

Also, would I want to change C10 to 22n here? Again, that is the suggestion on other threads (http://www.madbeanpedals.com/forum/index.php?topic=2919.msg24741#msg24741), but not mentioned here.

thank you!

Nice.  I have been playing a lot of muffs lately and am not super exited about the. Anyway. Just not what I'm looking for.

So much clipping in the Omar or in the muff?

Thanks for the report! I have my diamond board in the Omar's on the way. I have that envelope and don't love it for my playing.  I'm wondering what else I should add. Thinking of maybe a Civil War muff after the Omar.
