Wow, the trail off that rocket looks awesome. Is that painted?

I carefully dremeled it out and then painted it with Red Duplicolor Metal cast. The real trick was getting the LED cocked just right so the light hit the red paint, instead of just going straight up into the air. An LED with a narrow viewing angle was the key.
This image shows it better.

My first build was actually two pedals at the same time... A BYOC Confidence booster in a 1590a, and a BYOC 250+ in a 1590b, both with etched enclosures.

Guts shot.  It's not the prettiest but I'm new at this.
The guts on my first build weren't nearly that neat!
Excellent first build.

Careful, it may not just be a phase...Many a soul has entered that forest, never to return!  :D
Great looking build, especially that decal.

In addition to echoing what everyone else has said, as someone who etches, I am also blown away by how accurately you achieved the 3D "wrap around" on your enclosure etch!
I had once thought about attempting something similar, but decided it wasn't doable. Obviously, I was WRONG!
How you got the vertical lines that run parallel to each corner to bend and still match up on top of the enclosure so precisely is way beyond my skill set...

It appears your decal skills are as impressive as your etching skills.....
Excellent build inside and out!

Great looking build!
What's going on there with the LED? Look like you have countersunk it, but like you also notched the countersink or something...Cool look.

I can try to get some pics later today.  The spacer between the bottom and top deck are just some pieces of 1X wood.  I attached it to the bottom with some screws from the bottom, and to the top deck with some pocket screws.Hopefully pics later will clear anything up.

Thanks for the offer, but your description is probably info enough.
As usual, I was just over-thinking it!   :D

I have been mulling over ideas for a pedalboard and really like this design.
I don't want to be a nuisance, but is it possible you could could maybe add a closeup shot of how you anchored/installed the upper deck to the lower one?

First I get her all wet......Next I grab my part with tweezers.....Drill some holes, tighten some nuts, yada, yada, yada...
:o
But seriously, that is a great into to SMD for noobs like myself.
Absolutely zero chance I will ever be at the level to try SMD, but I do enjoy reading and learning, so thanks for the detailed post!

Great looking build and yes, the graphics layout looks very pro!

I've been in an etching slump lately (more pitting than I'd like), but I'm pretty stoked on the layout/graphic for this one. I used a 1590XX enclosure which was a first for me.

I used to have the same issue, and it seems like I am more fanatical than most about pits. I'm not sure what you use for etchant, but I use Ferric Chloride, and after ironing on the printed resist, I started going over the areas i don't want etched with nail enamel.  I haven't had a single pit since. After I etch, the nail enamel also comes off fairly easily with acetone. IF you're using Ferric chloride, you might give it a try.

Nice build. Curious how your brother finished out the exterior...Stencil maybe?

wanna build a timmy too with the catch22 pcb ;)
Me too. Guitarmageddon's word carries a lot of weight with me, and he can't say enough good things about it.

Wow, an A+ in every way possible!
I have been mulling on which reverb circuit to build, and this is a pretty strong recommendation, so will have to further check this one out.
And thanks for including the info on the substitution.

...Not very precise etch wise but I think the grungyness adds to the theme.

Yeah, with certain themes, etching imperfections only add to the character. And then with other themes, etching pits and errors pretty much kill the look.

" I unfortunately have to say that photopaper screwed me up big time when I used it. maybe there are different kinds, but mine just glued itself to the enclosure with molten plastics. "

-Yes, there are many different types of photo paper. I tried photo paper as well, and it was a disaster for me too, which is a shame: I am a photographer by trade, and have lots of it around.
Give the presentation paper a try. the first time I used it, the result was one of the cleanest etches I have ever gotten.
I also go over any place on the enclosure that I don't  want etched with nail polish. I can't stand little pits or accidentally etched places, and using the nail polish pretty much eliminates them, IF you are using ferric chloride enchant.
