General Questions / Re: Did I get real MN3005's?

no help here, cause Scruff is better at this than me, but glad you got it working. I knew it would be a simple fix.

Have you read through this yet? http://www.madbeanpedals.com/forum/index.php?topic=902.0

That post is full of all the tips and suggestions I'd give you, but to focus in a bit, it'd probably be a good place to start to check out things around your pot.

There are so many different potential issues with your board, it's hard to just say 'this is it.' Without at least some debugging steps taken by you and info given, we'd just be guessing.

Yes, that solder joint might be the issue.

What have you done for debugging thus far?

What's the colloasuls project? Is that new?

I would suspect either that you're not getting power to the 2N5457, the transistor is backwards, or it's bad. Have you got another? What are your voltages there?

I think we all have to be careful when predicting other peoples future experiences. I know I've gotten myself in trouble doing that before.

I get your point though, and I hope we all continue to learn.

Where specifically does your signal stop? That's where we need to focus.

At this point, your voltages and wiring aren't helping to lo ate, thre probe is what you need.

I'd start at the output and walk backwards to see if we can find the problem.

I will note that since I made that post, Tayda has become a great, inexpensive supplier. They are a a better supplier of caps, resistors, ICs and Trannies than many other places.

Open Discussion / Re: Boost and Ts808 suggestions

Is there a reason you couldn't build the enclosure to potentially try out multiple boost types to see what you like for yourself? Rather than limit yourself, I like having enclosures around I can switch circuits in and out of so I can try them live, and with a band, or in multiple rooms or with different equipment. Very handy.

Perhaps before you commit to one, try out several.

You could pass it on, but chances are you've got lots of useable stuff there.

Great questions, and though it was pretty buried, I used the search function to find this: http://www.madbeanpedals.com/forum/index.php?topic=563.0
