Open Discussion / Re: JMK PCBs

Perhaps if I find some significant modification that I could justify it...

I just don't want to release stuff that's currently in production. I can get away with something like the Scuba Muff or Wakizashi because they're pretty significant mods or not in production.

We'll see though.

Open Discussion / JMK PCBs

Hey dudes and dudettes.

Some of you have already decided to get in on the first PCB I'm beginning to offer, the Scuba Muff seen here: http://www.madbeanpedals.com/forum/index.php?topic=5038.0

But, I'm also going to begin working on and releasing some other PCB's, and I'd like some feedback if you will. If you had a chance to buy a couple of these, which would your top choices be?

You can pick 2 on the poll I believe, but if you'd pick more just throw in your two ohms down below. Options:

Blender: This pot mounted, small circuit that will enable one to put any circuit into a blender, so that you can blend the effect in with other effects. Especially helpful while building Bass effects and such. The PCB is litterally about the same size as a 16mm PCB mount potentiometer, so you should have NO issue getting it into just about any build you could ever want.

Buffout: Wah output buffer. Dead simple, dead easy, and will have holes for standoffs (think foxrox and area 51 mods)

Headphone Amp: Quiet practicing? You bet! This improved version of the MXR Headphone amp is essentially a clean amplifier with a gain trimmer and a Output volume pot.

Standard Fuzz: The Ibanez Standard Fuzz is a super quirky mega fuzz that's been made popular recently by Dan from the Black Keys? Like the Black Keys? Awesome. Don't know the Black Keys? Sucks to be you.

Tiny Oscillator: Literally, this is the best debugging and "Rock it before I box it" tool I have. This simple circuit generates a simple sine wave tone that you can run through your pedal that you're testing or debugging. You could build it into a testing rig with a headphone amp, or an output for your amplifier.

Wakizashi Boost: This is a modified version of the Keeley Katana. The Wakizashi is literally a smaller version of the Katana sword... see where I'm going with this?

Enjoy the voting. Note that while these are not the only projects I'm working on for future release, they will be among the first candidates. I want to avoid pre-ordering except for getting going, and I in no way plan to 'overtake' madbean. These are just utility and unprovided circuits that I feel should have a place in the DIY world.

No need for embarrassment Matt, it's only us who really cares anyway and we all have the screwy guts pedals to join with you.

The worst is when you're building for someone else and you make a crucial error in your drilling that requires you to order a new enclosure...

Rather than stir up more trouble on Mammoth, you can find a thread on Mammoth if you search.

I think getting Box caps from Tayda or the bulk bags from Smallbear is the way to go.

I will likely release a taptation board if people want it. I've been thinking it'll be good to release more PCBs than just the scuba muff.

This board I'm working on is just for JMK pedals until I retire the pedal from the line.

Now I get it... Monty Python for the win.

I haven't started yet. Just got home from church, planning on working while everyone naps. Unlike your area, it's cold and raining here. We actually had snow falling during the week.

I'm not sure I follow...

I hope this doesn't trump you matt, but here's what I'll be boxing this afternoon. I finally got my prototype working, this will be released soon...

Any cap will do. You can also use a 47pF cap there as well.

General Questions / Re: Building a Stronger Pedal

Actually, I believe part of the reason we use those white nylon washers with the switches is because they allow a certain amount of give, releasing the tension when you stomp on them. It's not like foam padding or anything, but I'd prefer to have a nylon washer over a metal washer if I were worried about a switch breaking.

A hum and no bypass means your jacks are not properly grounded. The fact that you had to plug a cable in to get 0V on pin 4 also indicates you have an issue with your wiring. You should have 0V on that pin all the time.

Jacob

Well for starters, Pin 4 should read 0V, which means you have power on your ground. Find the leak of your power to ground and you'll be a long way on the road.

Well I can share what I do.

I use a zip tie mount inside the enclosure, along with a zip tie. You can find what I mean by zip tie mount here: http://www.amazon.com/Zip-Tie-Mount-25-Pack/dp/B000BSJHLE

Here's what it looks like.

R = Ohm, so the correct value in this case is 470 Ohm.
