My wife grabbed my phone to scream 'a baby!'

Then she read, "fantastic work," and snickered, 'what did he do?'

I say congratulations.

All of those changes are meant to make your life easier, not change the sound. In fact, if you're building two, you could try making one each way and then see if you can tell which is which.

I would leave it as is. This parts and values won't make as big a difference as you might think.

Audio/Video Demos / Building tip - Battery snaps
April 22, 2012, 05:19:30 AM
Hey guys

I was doing a batch of battery snaps like I do once in a while. Dropped the iPhone on the desk and made a 2 minute video. Please not that the same principle can probably be applied to pretty much any wires, including batches of 3 or four wires, but I haven't tried that.

Quick tip: if you burn your finger on your soldering iron, quickly hold the burn to your earlob which will draw the heat out and reduce the burn's effect.

depends on what you're looking for. Mostly people do things differently, so if you see a layout or some sort of template you really like you could try kindly asking if they have a template they would share.

First off, your ground is still -, so make sure your jacks sleeves are still going to the ground of the breadboard.

You do need to know what each leg of your transistor is - it won't work if you put the legs into the wrong spot. With the electrolytics, the long leg is + and goes to ground. The other leg may have a negative marking on the body and should be shorter.

Probably no frying has happened as of yet. What's more likely is you've made a mistake somewhere. Fortunately, the Fuzz Face is one of the simplest circuits. I recommend starting over and taking your time.

They updated Phil's facebook page. He's doing alright now and expects to fly home tomorrow.

I use Inkscape. I learned it because of it's precision. It was difficult for me at first, but that's only because I didn't grasp the concept of vector based images. Once I started to get into it, I picked it up pretty quickly.

What speeds things up for me now is both my familiarity with the program, but also that I now have all my sizes nailed down and have templates for the various size enclosures I use consistently. You'll see in my pedals that I use standardized graphics formats. Now if I want something simple I can do it in a couple minutes, literally. Select font, type in correct labels, orient and align everything correctly, done.

Your method sounds difficult and time consuming, but it is simpler than learning a new piece of software I guess.

It's sort of interesting what can and cannot be powered at 18V. In theory, anything can as long as the components can handle it. Datasheets will tell you what can handle it and what can't.

But further to the discussion, not everything actually benefits from it. In some cases, running at 18V actually detracts from the effect. For example, some people think running overdrives at 18V is automatically awesome, but in some cases I've preferred the sound at 9V. Some are better at 18V thought.

The most common use for a road rage board is in fuzz pedals that require -9V instead of +9V, so the charge pump is used to invert the power. Second most common use is to ramp up the voltage for pedals using BBD circuits like choruses and delays which like to be run at 15V.

Can I pick neither??

Sorry, not helpful, but I don't think either works for me.

I think I read that the Belton bricks are essentially three PT2399s in series.

A Pog 2 and an OCD? Holy good deal batman.

Let me know when you want to get rid of it. I will take that from you for some pedals and cash.

Also, I really like that guitar. Excellent relic job.
