I have 3 PCBs I'm going to be giving away. Each time I decide to give one away I'll be asking a question. Here's the kicker - you can't use google to find the answer, you need to know the answer to win. Obviously, I can't patrol that request, so I have to ask you guys to use the honour system and just answer if you know.

It could be that you have a switching jack. That pin may be connected to either ground or to the tip when you have nothing plugged in, but plugging something in lifts the switch and then it connects to nothing, or switches from tip to ground, or from ground to tip, or whatever it's setup for.
