And when I wire a puppy up this cleanly...

I celebrate.

My wife works for Mapex...does their web design actually. I have not received my free Mapex kit yet!

If she could hook me up with hardware I'd take it! I need a better kick pedal and would love a better hat stand too. Matching 1000 series for hats and cymbals would be steller...

Also... Slim, that's cheating.

Grabbed a Pic.

2x60 drawer units keep my resistors and caps. Up above I have a couple other smaller drawer units for knobs and other stuff. On the left in one cubby you can see there are 6 different parts containers, 1 each for ICs, transistors, Diodes, sockets, regulators and such. I think I got them in the fishing aisle. There are also 3 large and deep ones in a cabinet below that holds all my Pots, large switches and Jacks. Above that door is a drawer with all my hand tools I use regularly. Finally, you can't see it well, but there's wire underneath that cubby in spools, and a book shelf to the right that holds boxes of spare tools, enclosures, and all sorts of stuff, as well as a hanging shoe cubby thing from Ikea that hangs from closet rod and holds projects in progress and finished pedals and paper work and stuff.

After a couple years in storage, I finally set up and played my kit this past week. It's been way, way, way too long and I missed it. I'm gearing up to start doing some recording work and need to brush up for sure though!

Mapex M Birch Kit: 20x18 Kick, 14x14, 12X10, 10X8, 8X8 toms (only use the 12 and 14 toms these days), 14x5.5 Black Panther Black Maple Snare, 17" Zildjian K Crash, 20" Sabian Paragon Crash, 20" Zildjian A Custom Ping Ride (hate it, want a K dark), 14" Hats (Using a 14" A Custom Crash for the top and a Sabian Pro for the bottom right now).

Show me yours!

Bias isn't as important with the Zombie, but that's because it's calculated to give you that 4.5 there, and since there are some crazy things going on with the xtra controls it's not as necessary.

But 4.5V doesn't necessarily automatically mean biased. It could be that you need to bias that mangler by ear. Especially becase the expected HFE on the second transistor is higher than you've got in there. I'm not a Fuzz expert though, maybe Paul will be able to offer you more.

These were my limited edition from 2011, and I'm still making them! I have one more enclosure left before they're finished production. Still trying to decide what to do for my 2012 limited edition.

Hope you've enjoyed.

It could be any number of things, including poor biasing. In many cases, you'll want to include a method to adjust the bias voltage, as bad bias voltages will sound the way you're describing.

Could also be that you need that second transistor to be a higher HFE, and it could also be the germ sound, but I doubt that. What kind of transistors are you using and where did you get them? If the leakage is bad they won't sound good either.

I don't think I could handle switches that close to each other. You must be a precision stomper...

The Rat is a famous LED clipping pedal. Been out since the 80's.

Yes sometimes people do! I don't personally like doing that because I don't find the clipping diodes to be useful visually. I just use LED's for bypass, I don't need a light show. Just my opinion.

Neat!

Depends on so many factors it's impossible to say. I know this isn't he answer you want, but you'll likely have to price it out yourself.

I also use the smaller parts pins for ICs and trannies and such. I should take a good few pictures of my current setup...
