I have built 2 of the keeley compressors  from tagboard and mine is always on. I love it. Fun build!

General Questions / Suggest a delay
October 16, 2013, 09:39:23 PM
Hey Guys,

I've a few self  builds under my belt (keeley comp, osqueezer, ts808, ZPSDX, rebote, cave dweller, ea trem and FTM) and I think I am ready to try an analog delay. I've been etching everything that there isn't a tagboard for, so if that is required its not roblem.Delays have by far been the most fun for me to build, and reading about the madbean d-bag has me all excited. Do you guys know of any memoryman/boy style builds out there I can do? I see bean is doing a dirtbag 2013, but I want to get one under my belt before that one comes out (if possible) Any suggestions for a good place to start? THANKS!

SO HAPPY I COULD SMILE. It was the diodes. Swapped. good to go. Thanks jimi and everyone who helped me poke around. I can finally get some sleep! learned a lot probing around, so I'm kind of glad this happened. sort of. I feel like a huge weight has been lifted off. Life isn't
quite right if one of your builds is malfunctioning, agreed?

Nope- direct from the bean! And FYI, when the feedback pot is maxed, all lugs are continuous with ground

There is No signal @ feedback 2. I'll double check continuity and the diodes tonight and make sure there arent any bridges.

I was excited to come home and check. Your image is correct. Feedback 3 is the last place I am getting delay. C48 and r41 are all white noise, no signal. Does this mean a lifted trace? I've already swapped both components. Thanks so much for the help.

Jimi, that may not be necessary, like I said before this thing was working beautifully for about a week until I made that physical (height) adjustment to the feedback pot..i'd be glad to if it would help though. To this point, I've made the following changes:

feedback pot now wired w/ regular pot instead of PCB mount (to rule out malfunctioning pot)
c48 swapped
r41 swapped
All IC's checked in other circuits

When I get home from work today I'll double check my probe against your drawing (stupid jobs!) and post results.

When slam is engaged, nothing happens. I swapped both c48 and r41. Problem persists. I changed the switch, so that issue is fixed, however the single repeat remains. Do my voltages seem ok?

My audio probe results have been inconclusive up to this point. Everywhere I check, I get a single repeat.

Hey guys,

Update on the ZPSDX, or lack of one. I'm still having the same issue, one repeat regardless of the feedback pot setting. Ive changed the feedback pot, r41, and c48. Ive checked all my connections to verify no cold joints/bridges. I'll mention again that this pedal was working great for the first few days, and a component may have been bumped at some point (project is still unboxed). IC's have been checked in other pedals and are all operational.

UPDATE!!!!!!!!!

I realized that when the PATH switch is set in the off position, I am getting absolutely no delay, just my signal. When PATH is on, it goes through each filtering mode correctly, however there is still only one repeat. I'm not that great at deciphering more complicated schems, so what should I be paying attention to on the board? Please help!
#297
Well, I replaced c48 and the feedback pot and r41. No dice. Still one repeat. I'm not sure what to do. Where is the first point on the board that I would hear oscillation with the feedback pot maxed? Would it be on the out of the pt2399 or elsewhere? I ordered another tl074 in case mine and the backup I tried are on the fritz, but beyond that, I'm at a loss.
#298
I'm guessing it is C48. I hear the single delay at the pot, but C48 is just noise. I'll swap it out tonight and let you guys know. Thanks bean and jimilee.

The slam switch also does nothing when engaged.

This is killing me! I'm still having the same issue- I get one repeat on my delay and it stops after that. I can't find any cold joints, I've tried different ic's. For a pedal that was working beautifully until I moved the feedback pot upwards a bit this makes no sense. My only shred of an idea is c48- it appears to have a bit of heat damage from soldering. Would that cause this? My audio probe was inconsequential.  Also, as I stated in a prior post, pin 5 of the TL062 is rapidly fluctuating voltage between 3v and 5v. I'm pulling teeth out here. Thanks for any help at all.
