Lars, I actually thought about doing that! I'll keep you guys posted on what I end up doing. Thanks for all the input.

Thanks guys. I'm a bit intrigued by the lofomofo actually. In our old band, we ran a few of his vocal parts through a proco rat and the guts of a snare, and it ended up sounding super cool.  As long as I give him something that somewhat even remotely resembles the feel of a megaphone, he'll be right as rain.

An old friend of mine wants me to build him a vocal effects unit and aside from delay and reverb he wants something akin to a megaphone sounding effect. It seems like that "megaphone" sound is a combination of a lot of treble, compression, and distortion, but i'm not yet sure how to tackle it. Any circuit suggestions or ideas?

Hey Guys,

I remember a bit back a thread on vaping so I know a few guys around here do it. For about 2 years I've been using the boring old pen style 510. It's actually got great vapor production and I don't have any complaints about it. My DIY spirit has me wanting to build my own, and I was wondering if anyone could point me in the right direction. Basically, I need to know what to buy in regards to building an atomizer, batteries, ETC. Good throat hit is a must. It's the reason I've kept my 510 for so long. If anyone has any recommendations for a good place to start, please let me know. I'm looking for a setup to drip, no tank needed.

Hey guys this is a link to my friend John's band called Alcon. I used to play drums in a band with him when I lived in Columbus and I've always kept track of what he's doing musically. I've always been impressed by his guitar playing but the song called exus in this link takes it to a whole new level. He handles vocals as well. For fans of owls, Jeff Buckley, and other.

We've all kind of been pooping our pants over Drolo's twin peaks tap tempo tremolo. I have one that I run into my rub a dub deluxe and it sounds gorgeous. I think he still has some left from the recent group buy. It's definitely the most versatile trem i've ever played, hands down. As far the the reverbs go, you know what your options are with the brick. if I were you, I'd go all out and do a box with deadastronaut's chasm reverb and the twin peaks trem. The chasm can be had here: http://deadastronaut.wix.com/index#!__build-your-own-pedal

I have a few ideas, but didn't have time to read this whole thread, so if someone has already suggested this, forgive me. I see a big problem a lot of people have is clarity, communication, expectations, ETC. I think having a scheduled AMA (ask me anything) chat with the bean each month would be cool. This would allow everyone to ask all of the questions they otherwise would email you about separately. I think this could be pretty efficient and if it were scheduled it would give everyone a chance to participate. I don't know the best way to do this (i'm sure other members can help with that, but the idea is a start.

Love the graphics! I am a sucker for anything space-themed.
I think 90% of my builds are space themed. I have an almost unlimited supply of old physics, astronomy, and science related books, manuals, magazines from my friend who worked in a used books store. When they closed, I got to go through the place and have my pick.

Insanely awesome milestone. At this rate, we'll have a DSP project sometime in the future!

Build Reports / YARUBADUB

This was my weekend project-population, Tex and case art friday, boxing sunday. My girlfriend started a new job a few months ago and kept telling me I needed to meet one of her coworkers because "he plays guitar too". I met the fellow and he's a super nice guy, and we got to talking. He knew I built pedals from some prior conversations with my girlfriend. He mentioned he had had no luck with any of the builds he tried. He seemed pretty bummed....I asked him about them-both were BYOC kits that just didn't work out. I offered to take a look at them for him, not expecting him to take me up on it. A few days later, my girlfriend comes home with a tupperware bin full of parts! He had tried doing their reverb and tubescreamer/boost. Both pcb's were completely shot with missing pads. Since the reverb pcb couldn't be salvaged (except for the brick), I decided to pif the world and build him a new one from scratch. I went with the rub a dub (because hell yea!). This is the result.
