Hey there, sorry I didnt get back at you guys. I went out of town for the weekend.

I actually used a 10k pot for the volume.

Hey dudes,

I build this Timmy and I'm really digging it. I'd never really played a "transparent" od before, but when I hooked this guy up, the idea of tone transparency made a lot more sense.

I painted the box orange and handed it over to my brother. He took of the rest of the design. I still have the hardest time trying to get vero or perf to ever look clean!

Can I ask what pot you used for volume? I read the the original used a 25k with an 18k resistor from input to wiper. Also read to just use a 10k pot.  About to build the catch 22 board this weekend, any input is appreciated!

totally forgot about that! That bugged the heck out of me. Once you put them next to eachother on a build the different shades stuck out like a sore thumb. Totally whack!

The problem I had with the Marshall style knobs is that there was enough of a color shift from knob to knob they didn't match.  I am admittedly particular, however.  I ended up throwing them aside and buying some from Small Bear which were much nicer quality.

Never had trouble with the Marshall Style knobs. However I went through like 5 of these the other day, DAVIES 1510 CLONE BLACK KNOB. First I realized a couple I ordered didn't ship with set screws. Then one I did try the screws just turned to dust. I want even cracking on them that hard. One after another. Finally dug out the same style ones I had leftover from a small bear order and they worked great!

Open Discussion / Box Of Rock - Boost Side Not Working
November 05, 2014, 10:54:20 AM
Hey Homies,

the guitar player in my band has a BOR and the boost side isn't working. I have a BOR that had the dirt side go out. I measured voltages on the trannys and found the bad one in question. I replaced it and the dirt side started working again. I've read that this is a pretty common problem with these pedals. However it is usually the dirt side not the boost side that goes. I figured I would use the same logic to fix my guitar players pedal. I measured the BS-170s voltages (focusing on the one that is closest to the boost pot. Based on the schematic and from just looking at it, it seems like that would be the tranny in the boost circuit) and compared them to the voltages in my working BOR. What is throwing me for a loop is that the trannies (especially the one I think is in the boost side) measures the same as my working BOR. Is it possible that the transistor could still be bad regardless of measuring the same as a working BOR? Or is there something else in the boost circuit that could be causing the problem? I still haven't hooked up my JMK testing rig to try and run tone through the boost side, which I will give a shoot tonight. Just wanted to throw this out there first.

Let me know if anyone has an opinion on the matter.

Thanks!

that Refused album still blows my mind. When ever I put it on I always think that if this record came out today it would still be ahead of its time. Its pretty amazing when the stars align and bands are able to make something from front to back that is so darn special to some many people and so many thriving scenes.

Nu-Metal buzz... lol

The bass line in that song is pretty cool... gives all the melody to the heavyness...

Machine Head... listened to that album way too much when younger. Total abuse of FX in that song but really well blended in the guitar lines.... and... Groovy!!!

And this... probably the best punk/hardcore album of the 90's... from wich there's still plenty of influences heard in todays music... such ground breaking in that time.

Lemme tell you man, its been killing me not being able to play guitar or work on any pedals. I'm moving in with the ol' lady and she wants to make sure every single everything is done before I get to settle down and get back to playing and building! Brutal!

Unpack the music room first. You need a place to play before you need a place to sleep.

Yea I heard Dan Boul from 65 amps talking about these pedals on "Lunch with Dan". I think he said bogner pedals is in the same building as 65.
