DOCS:
http://www.madbeanpedals.com/projects/Dirtbaby/Dirtbaby2015.pdf
REV "0"
I have re-flowed suspect solder joints. (probably could find more)
Audio probed from input to IC1. Level drops to very low after R2 220k resistor.
It goes to IC1B and the schematic states pin 7 as input. No Audio there.
(see voltages below)

Voltages are all marked IC1 just checking that they are actually
IC1 IC2 IC3 IC4 left to right.

Chips 2 through 4 match doc voltages.
IC1 seems off...

Voltages for IC1 @ 9.3v regulated linear supply.
Docs    Mine
1.6       6.3
2.93     4.1 to 5.3 varies
2.93     4.5 to 5.2 varies
0          0
4.24     4.3
4.26     556mv
4.24     7.5
8.4       8.89

Strange behavior: intermittent output appears as overloaded distortion. Like it's being pushed through a bad solder joint or component. Crunch Crunch with beat of music. Then nothing.

Changed out all the TL062 audio chips.

Turn Feedback up all the way and noise begins to run away.
Echo seems to be operating and speed control works.
Just no input passed through unless as mentioned above random bouts of distorted loud overdriven crunchy-ness..
Then nothing.

Bypass works

Any ideas are welcome!

Open Discussion / Ibanez AS93 violin burst! NGD
March 26, 2015, 10:09:11 PM

Just want to thank all of you guys for such great input. I bought this guitar and it is sweet! Couldn't have done it without so much input all of which was spot on...this guitar sings and sustains forever, plays all the way to the top fret without a single issue.. She was a little pissed when I yanked her out of the box but after a few minutes she settled and stays in perfect tune, intonation is perfect.... wow!

Thanks!

Sweetwater took a better pic that I could.

The Egghead docs spec 9mm Alpha Pots. They look like right angle PCB mount:
Egghead2014.pdf

The ones I'm seeing are not right angle like the pictures in the egghead docs imply:
Tayda-pcb-9mm.html

Do I just bend em up or what?

R6 is supposed to be a tone control, but it acts more like a volume control.
Any help is greatly appreciated...

Got my EHX pitchfork and what a great little fun pedal...

Can someone help me understand this transformer?  :(
It has 5 input wires marked 0v~115v~SCN And 0v~115v

Why 3 wires for the 18v and 2 wires for the 9v secondaries?
The difference between 18v~0v~18v and 0v~9v has me confused.

It's an R type transformer:

Input Voltage:
International universal voltage  0~115V,  0~115V , Shielded wire (5 lines)

output voltage:
AC 18V~0V~18V (0.5A 3 lines)
0~9V (0.3A),   0~9V (0.3A),  0~9V (0.3A), 3 groups (6 lines)

Output Power:30W

Size:79×68×40(mm)

Open Discussion / SKB-PS-45 pedal mods questions
January 15, 2015, 03:25:45 PM
I have a SKB-PS-45 pedal board that I would like to add a few mods but I have questions.

The PS is a toroidal transformer with a secondary at 14.5 volts single tap running to 4 diodes for rectification then a large cap into the single L7089cv regulator.  then two caps on each output. So it's not isolated...hmm

The regulator is rated at 1.5 amps but I'm thinking of maybe adding a road rage or two and/or vero with another transformer for 12v and 18v.

Hate to waste all this hardware.

Help me brainstorm?

Open Discussion / Could this be used in a pedal looper?

This looks interesting. Could this be used for a pedal switcher/looper?

I just did an inventory of what I have to build or finish
and it really surprised me to discover I have 39 projects
in one state or another to complete...

I think I have a problem.....

Is there a group I can join?

Open Discussion / Taptation / PT2399 Build?
January 02, 2015, 04:04:41 PM
Has anyone built a Guitar PCB D'lay with the daughter board for the Taptation chip set and had it work properly?
There are some "The LED blinking does not match the output of the delay" complaints.
If anyone has any information regarding the Taptation / 2399 working or not working please let me know.
I have two of them here and would like to build them up but..........

Taptation Chip sets. How do I get a few?

I've tried to buy a couple of Taptation Chip sets over at Aron's DIYSB site to no avail. The shopping cart is broken.
emailed but no response yet...hmmm.

This is the first project to kick my butt and win!

What general issues create chirping, clicking and whining oscillations?

Also I am getting "scratchy noises" from the feedback trimmer while adjusting, can trimmers be bad?
