Everything about that looks amazing. It is true what my mate said, if its not from Yorkshire then its sh*t, the opposite being if it is then its sh*t hot  ;D

Im not sure how OSHPark and Eagle work but with permission of Jimilee and the creator of the cricket board I *think* you could export the boards and mash them together? Then you can jumper the ins and outs and see what sounds better into what I guess.

There are stripboard layouts for both at GuitarFX that shouldnt take too long to whip up. I think theres an explanation of the headphone jack wiring from memory if you cant wait the lead time for board/s!

Open Discussion / Re: Question about pots

Afternoon!
Im in Europe and Lin is definitely B, Log is A and C is magical, dangerous to use and not for the fainthearted  ;)

A quick google showed midwayfair answering a similar question on another forum and he suggested using a big cap to slow the charging of the led:

But noted it was theoretical, so a good candidate for a date with the breadboard  :)

Guessing Jimilee you're building this on the Gilmour quest you mentioned recently.. what songs/albums did David use it on?

Love the idea, Id fancied doing something similar when Id checked out the DE Silver Rose circuit - you could build all four circuits separately and then the mixer and crocodile clip em together, then the worst that happens is you have four fuzzes to box!

My unfounded and possibly wrong opinion would be to run the outputs at full and change R20-23 to pots for some uniformity but thats probably just a different mixer schem Im thinking of.

General Questions / Re: Acid for enclosure etching?
February 27, 2016, 04:42:25 PM
As someone thats heeding your warning and discontinuing using the acid and peroxide mix, would the acid on its own be any safer from a wishing to continue to be able to breathe point of view? Or would that still produce chlorine?

Like pedal making you can get stuff premade - laser cut or prepunched aluminium - and fold yourself or get it folded as some companies offer folding services. So its be like sending away for a PCB to be made. Or get some different sizes and cheap tools and measure, cut and fold. Im cheap so cut with a junior hacksaw, file and fold.

My brake/folder cost £45 from Amazon and Ive made four different sized wedges for the cost of maybe a couple of premade ones. Quite liberating as I wanted a super low profile one for a Buzzaround that I made in an hour or so. I used 0.9mm ally the first few so its not very robust but theyre just for me so I aint gonna stamp through them. Switched to 1.2mm and its a lot stronger.

Theres a sense of satisfaction from making the box as well as the circuit. Also when I mess up measurements I got a pop riveter to add on angles I couldnt fold - something I imagine big companies dont have to do but I got a lot from it.

Sorry for banging on about it!

Amen to that, sometimes I get more joy from folding them than making the circuits or playing!

Culturejam, were your darlingtons using Russian transistors? Ive always had great results with them but now I want to revisit and make sure I wasnt hearing things :-\

Never seen that before, but very interesting. I usually go for Darlington pairs where I need the higher HFEs and all I have to hand is low gain Ge. Definitely worth a breadboard!

Apologies if its common knowledge but how vital is the liquid tin plating of the traces? Ive etched boards but never plated thats all.

Open Discussion / Re: Holy cow, AI is getting unreal

It beat a human at Go?! Shit. I remember an XKCD comic about AI that was a good timeline about how AI has evolved that was pretty interesting (first link on google - https://xkcd.com/1002/)

I think we should now be looking to build an AI that can win at Calvinball  ;D

Great build! I love the clean graphics.

I also regret checking it out as I have the earlier version yet to be built and now youve sold the newer one to me :-\ hah.
