Since de-rating resistors is said to lower temperatures and thus help noise in any that may be self heating, how do you identify the ones that generate heat?

The VFE production build is using all 1/4 watt resistors so I'm wondering if using 1/2 watt in certain places might help

Heat dissipation within a resistor can be measured by calculating the Power that runs across that resistor.   Since the Formula for Power is P=V2/R, (voltage squared) / Resistance, you can quickly see that resistors with very low values will generate the most power and thus the most heat (assuming voltage is constant across each resistor).

Wow.  I really love the etch idea. I do a lot of etching and it is indeed a labor intensive process, but the results are so nice.  Wonderful circuit as well.

I'm particularly concerned about pots.  Small Bear was one of the few that carried all values across 16mm and 9mm.  Plus, you could get quantity discounts by pot type/size, not just by value, which is how most normal distributors handle it.

This is my biggest concern too.  Nobody has the potentiometer selection that Smallbear has.  They put mouser / Digikey to shame.  Good luck finding those obscure double ganged pots without them.

I wanted to buy a key holder and put an amp inside. That would be nice.

For must people I would just find that comment funny.  For you, I'm waiting for the build report.

The 1N5230 is a 4.7V zener diode.  I've looked at three different schematics and they all list the zener diode at 4.7v   4.7v is what you want.

Yea, that's confusing.  It's definitely a 9mm right angle pot.  Madbean listed it as 9mm plastic shaft pot so I think this is the correct pot;

There is some fantastic soldering inside there.  Beautiful work. 

I'm almost done with mine.  I've corresponded with Kyle a few times. He is a very nice and helpful individual and this has been a fun project.  Does anyone know what model number the subminiature dpdt switches are?  The bushing needs to be a certain length for everything to fit properly.  I could also use some guidance wiring the 1P12T rotary switch he sent.  Thanks in advance. 

Those Belton Bricks are really voltage sensitive with an operating range of 4.5 to 5.5 volts. 
If your 5 volt regulator broke down, I'm guessing you had -9v directly to pin 1 on the BTDR-3H.
I think this would cause the Belton Brick to fail. 
Maybe others who have experience with this brick could chime in.
