I've yet to build a pedal with a vertical pcb position. 
It's such a space saver though!

I've worn out a couple of these. Can you still get the tips for them? After RadioShack went out of business, I haven't found any.

The tips are called SS-16.  They are sold on amazon.  It's just silicon tubing with a 2mm inner diameter I believe.  PTFE tubing may even be better.
