Open Discussion / PFUKR info and updates and such
January 20, 2023, 04:26:38 PM
Hey guys, it's been a longtime and I appologize that things dropped off without much explination. I started a new job and life got really busy, and that basically coencided with running out of stuff to post for auction.

I think things were a huge success. I think we ended up between 7500 and $8000 in donations raised between instagram and the Reverb stuff!!

I'm still crazy busy at work, but with the war about to hit the one year mark I wanted to put out a feeler and see if there is any interest in making another push. Several of you have contacted me at one point or the other about stuff you were working on, so I thought I'd make a post here to check interest and see if anyone finished up anything or would be interested in getting involved.

As always thoughts, questions, ideas, suggestions are very welcome.

I have a couple of these, and they work well for my needs.

You can find a version with a simple case on Amazon for a few bucks more.

Indeed, Merry Christmas to everyone!

I hope everyone has a great day relaxing, and everyone finds a few minutes for a little loud guitar!

Every time I see adult coloring, it's not what I think it's going to be. That being said, very nice.

Not that I have checked, but I have little doubt what you are thinking of exsists and wouldn't be difficult to find.

I have been on a mad cookie making spree. It started about three weeks back and every time the jar is empty my wife and kids talk about the "cookie desert" and I end up making more.

Sugar cookies, gingerbread, chocolate-oatmeal, and a couple others that I can't think of.

If the trend continues I'll start posting pics. The gingerbread ran out yesterday.

Yeah, definitely try one at a time with nothing else plugged into the power supply.

What is your power supply situation? Isolated, daisy chained? And how much other stuff is on your board?

I say if the money and time aren't an issue AND you enjoy doing it then find a way to offload stuff so you don't just have it sitting around. You could sell stuff at a resonable price. Give stuff to your friends or people you know that play in local bands. There are a decent amount of charities that work with either kids or vets that teach them music and get them playing in bands or whatnot, you could always see if there is something like that locally and offer to donate some pedals.

General Questions / Re: Small Bear vs Tayda
September 17, 2022, 08:14:27 PM
I use Tayda a lot as well. Over the past several years I've had one bad bag of electro caps from them that caused a few big headaches, but other than that all has been very good.

I get most stuff from them, I like getting enclosures and switches from Lawrence at love my switches. There stuff if a nicer quality than tayda, and for mechanical stuff like switches that matters (to me at least). I occasionally order from smallbear if there is something more specialized that I need. They are a true gem.

Mouser is also very, very good, but doesn't have quite everything you can find at tayda that people end up using for pedals.

I'm actually kind of surprised, that stuff is pretty much as old as strats are and (as referenced before in the thread) things went very different for Fender when they tried something similar. I wonder if they'll try to revisit that case.

Either way in the last couple of years there has been a lot of innovation and novel designs that have popped up. Lots of people are making cool looking guitars that aren't Strat, Les Paul or whatever's.

This sounds like a job for Scruffie

Audio/Video Demos / Re: EagleCAD PCB design video

Very cool to watch Brian, thanks for putting the together. I haven't messed with Eagle much, but just watching this makes me realize I have a LONG way to go if I get back into it.

A good place to start is making sure everything is properly grounded. You might reflow the solder on all the ground connections.
