Hey, I'm sorry to see this so late, and I imagine you've already checked this. But anyway, in your picture of the solder side of the board, I see what may be a joint with too little solder on the top row of IC6. I haven't built a Rust Bucket myself; this is just what I think my eyes are seeing!  ;)

Thanks, I just reflowed all the connections of IC6 (and lots more)!

No offense intended but there's a number of solder joints that look a bit cold. Especially on the pots. Also double check that the body of your resistors isn't too far in the hole and not making proper contact. A little flux and a little more heat should help a lot.

No offense taken! I added more solder and reflowed bunch of joints.

Here's up to date pictures of the board (these are pretty large, so I don't want to attach them here):

Hey everyone!

I just wanted to let you know that I'm still fighting with this one. ;D I replaced all the resistors with correct values (no more biggybagging, yay). Sadly that really didn't change anything.

I started messing with audioprobe while strumming guitar and turning all the knobs. I realized that Sense and Decay -pots don't do anything. There is no delay effect if I audiprobe from for example pin 2 of IC11. Could this be because of bad CD4013 or CD4066? I need to try find couple of more of those (usually buy extra ones, I just need to find where they are..).

Any other ideas are welcome also. :) I'll take new pictures as soon as I have time and its still bright outside..

Never did much for bass strings either.

I think it helps for a week or two, then they go back to dead. Totally not worth it.

Best advice I got when doing first SMD was to get really thin solder and a flux pen. Made it really easy!

Where are you based? Is postage from the uk any cheaper for you?

Cool, didn't know Fuzz Dog carried it too! I'm from Finland so UK is on the better side of the pond for me. :)

Really cool! I've been meaning to build new test board for a while. Got super excited when I saw this. Sadly the shipping rates are way too much (16,20$). :(

Hey, I'm sorry I recorded a clip yesterday after adding modulation to the predelay PT2399 (which sounds just AMAZING to me!), but I totally forgot to record a clip with the slam switch.  :-\

At the end of the video though you can hear it oscillate. I'm not sure I'll keep the slam switch, I'm not sure I'll use it, I may as well put the modulation on a footswitch.

Anyways, here's my early build report: http://www.madbeanpedals.com/forum/index.php?topic=23642.0

Thanks! :)

I would also guess a beefier power supply would help. Have you measured how much current is flowing? How much salt are you using?  :)

There was a rash of 'analog delays' when builders first started using the PT2399 in the mid 2000's (iirc) that got everyone all excited. A lot of them used this karaoke chip. It did not end well for a lot of builders when the truth came out.

Yeah, some companies also got into that (mostly the cheap plastic pedals). Joyo, Behringer and so on.
