Finished this over the weekend, a rat clone. Wiring isn't my best but it is passable. Dc texture powder.

Since yesterday the links at the top of the page are missing, for me anyway. Specifically the "new post" link.

Build Reports / Pancake Overdrive (Crowther Hotcake)
January 12, 2012, 05:02:20 PM
Built this one to verify the layout that i made. Nice sounding overdrive. The silver is just sandblasted aluminum and the black powder coating is called DC texture from "Powder 365"

Just another fuzz.  On board TC1044 for -9 with a regular +9 supply. Board mounted 16mm pots. The finish is my first attempt at "engine turning". Candy green on top of the engine turning.

Here is my attempt at the dmm. I am pretty stinkin happy with it. I didn't have any issues what so ever, went together like paint by the numbers. I built the mn3005's from magazine vault (he no longer seems to have any) I'm getting about 500ms of delay time but haven't really spent any time trying to tune it in yet. The daughter board for 15v is mounted under the main board.  In the pics the "Alien Silver" powder coating looks mundane and bland. And as usual my pictures don't do justice to the finish, it is MUCH MORE sparkly and pops in person. The decals are from pulsar, they were a much more bright purple before they entered the over but i think they still look good.

Build Reports / Just another "Fuzz Face"
December 28, 2011, 07:46:42 PM
Just a fuzz face :) On board TC1044 for -9 with a regular +9 supply. Empty components are for a mod that i'm still working on (translation= didn't use the bread board first :) Pulsar decals. Dormant copper (but like most of the sparkle colors, I can get it to show in the pics.) The decals are actually more gold and not white like the pictures show. I really need to learn to take better pics. 2n404 transistors.

Everyone else has one so i had to see what the fuss was about. My fingers burn a little and my eyes are watery but its all worth it.

Nothing fancy but I'm still digging it. The finish is Pearlescent white with Illusion Amethyst  flake powder coat, you can't see the nuances at all in the pictures but its readily apparent in person. The layout is my own with obvious influences from Brian's most resent layout iterations.

not that i need a new version. I'm still trying to learn the features of the previous version.

My dad was a commercial bee keeper and his father and so on. That makes me at least a 4th generation beekeeper. I only do it as a small hobby to spend time with my dad and this was our only extraction of the year. In the first pic my wife holding a frame of honey, and the second pic that frame jarred.

Build Reports / Ewe... stop looking at my boob(tube) :)
October 06, 2011, 02:00:02 PM
Not happy with the wiring yet, But i wanted to get the build report out.  My wife was rushing my out of the garage today saying "you spend to much time out there" :) This project  came out pretty good, but next time i will locate the jacks closer to the switch. Still don't have a proper tube (anyone know a decent source for 12bh7's?) On board charge pump upto 35v with a 12v supply. Dormant orange.

Build Reports / My "Dirt" box is getting a little rusty :)
September 11, 2011, 08:43:31 PM
A build verifying my layout. The finish is a combination of etching and powder coating. The finish is more orangey (rusty) looking in natural lighting.

I want a lower profile jack (if they exist) for 1590a and 1590b builds. I want to be able to have the pcb board above or below the in/out jacks. It is possible with the standard switchcraft and similar jacks but there is no wiggle room, literally :) I don't want to purchase every jack smallbear has, so i am asking all those that have tried something different that the "standards" so please chime in if you have tried something larger (so i know not to get those) or smaller. Thanks.

I might give this one a try but i would prefer solder lugs

Build Reports / The Slutter
August 23, 2011, 08:23:16 PM
My second powder-coated pedal, takes a little more skill than i anticipated. My largest fabbed layout to date. My first etch faceplate, not super happy with the plate but it came out ok. This was build by request of one of my friends. It is a splitter, buffer and blend pedal, with a phase switch. Pretty neat pedal. Sorry no gut shots this time, he was waiting patiently  ::) for it. They aren't pretty anyway  ;D

I'm super proud. Big thanks to Brian for all his help, guidance and most of all patience  ;D These are for my own personal use, i do not plan on selling any fabbed boards on a regular basis. I might throw a couple on the "For Sale" forum every once in a while. A couple of small cosmetic goofs but all in all they came out great. From left to right; Mictesters really cheap compressor, buffered klon buffer, orange squeezer, Klon dual buffer or buffered splitter. All of which fit into a 1590a.

I am really interested in the amz stuff but he is out of stock and doesn't know when it will be back in stock. So I set out looking for alternatives and this popped up. Anybody ever try this or have any comments concerning this system?

This one came out pretty good. I made a mistake when i laid out the enclosure, i put the power jack on the wrong side  >:( so the two wires in the upper right hand of the board are crossing over the board, oh well. This is my own layout. I'm sorry, I will not be sharing this layout publicly. The designer of the circuit has ask nicely of the DIY community not to share layouts, he freely shared his schematics.

I wasnt able to get in on the gtr2 sale and resorted to buyng from an unknown source.  I bought these for the "dirt bag" delay and that isn't out yet I need some way to test these before my "grace period" runs out. Short of building the aquaboy is there a simpler way to test these? Thanks for any help.

I had a go at a layout for this project. Pretty tight, might be better to build this one in a 1590b if you don't have any experience building in a 1590a.
