just a update. I haven't boxed it up yet but i have been playing it. It sounds incredible, I like it alot and don't plan on changing to electro's. I don't know how the regular electro sound in this circuit but I like the film alot. I wonder if you would even be able to tell a difference.

I believe you can run it, but you would have to modify the pcb some to leave it out. It's not just as simple not including the chip.

Try breadboarding the boost circuit itself if you want to know want it sounds like.

Why not? I'm still just a novice but it looks like to me it would to me, am i missing something?

Edit:
It does work removing the ic. I didn't have time to play with it much but it pass signal (but as we know, just because its passing signal doesn't mean it's working properly.) Signal was clean until the end of the fat pot where the sound became splatty/gated.

I guess that depends on how thick your fr4 is. I've used pretty thick photo paper with success with my laminator. I have never tried the blue stuff.

I'm not sure what your asking but the entire process is he same using both methods except your using the laminator instead of a iron.

toner on glossy paper (or pnp or similar) > iron or laminator or both > remove excess paper > etch

did that answer your question?

I get the impression that he wants to try and run it without the 1044, maybe I'm wrong?

mission amps is really good stuff with alot of support from the owner, highly recommend. If you can go without instruction and just looking for a parts kit checkout "triode electronics"
