How heavily are you planning on using the stomp and are you planning on selling them? If a lot and maybe, don't use Chinese stomps. It's the component that WILL fail at some point simply down to it's nature (it's mechanical and you stamp on it).

Um I will use them at least weekly. And gig with them. I mostly build pedals for myself or people I know. I have sold pedals but not much. I just build stuff for fun mainly. I find that a Hobby that makes me money ends up like a job and I hate jobs.  ;)

I've never heard of BLMS before. Googled it and kept laughing over and over. Haha I'll try these guys out for some cheaper parts. As for the Chinese stuff I've bought so far  caps/resistors/connectors and some other minor things for super cheap and not had too much trouble. I was worried about the switches though. Thanks guys.  8)

General Questions / Chinese footswitches
March 30, 2015, 04:58:29 PM
Anyone have luck buying footswitches from Chinese eBay stores? They look like the exact same thing from small bear or mammoth etc. Normally I don't have issues with some electronic parts form various Chinese oems but recently bought some solderwick that turned out to be fake. Just got super hot and didn't suck up solder.  I feel like a mechanical switch could be faked.  :o

Thanks guys.  What did you cut them with regular hacksaw? I don't want to damage them. I only have two at the moment.  I was thinking I could clamp them in my bench vise and gently saw them off.

Tech Help - Projects Page / Deadringer 2 and irf510

On the deadringer2, Anyone fit the irf510 mosfets into a 1590bb without cutting the heat sinks off? I think they might be too tall. Thought I'd check before I hack them off.

Tech Help - Projects Page / Kingslayer II IC's
March 05, 2015, 01:17:15 PM
Curious which IC choices people who have built the Kingslayer II used.  I found another thread that said to use TLC074 to get rid of the squeal which totally worked. I also used the TC1044SCPA charge pump. This seems to work fine, pedal sounds good normally. But it gets a squeak that fades out when disconnecting power.   No idea why. I was thinking the charge pump could cause it. The KIngslayer I document mentions something to this effect.  Anyone get that fading squeak?

no one else still is having this problem still? Maybe i have something really botched...i finally bumped the R28 value up a little and still has a squeal. It actually gets really muddy after a minute of playing with gain all the way up or a amplified squeal with gain all the way down. I hope that new IC does the trick...

I've tried several things. Make sure your sticker/decal is really thin. Else when you clear over it it will look like trash. Paper decals have little fuzzys all over too which get trapped in the clear if you aren't careful.  But you can always redo a pedal by soaking it in paint thinner for 10-15 mins. Done this many times. Put a mask and gloves on if you do.  ;)

Has anyone come back to this topic? I just built a Kingslayer II with the 274 and i get crazy a squeal after it sits for a little while. Also when i disconnect power it also sputters while the pwr supply cap discharges. Strangely if i play through it for about 5 mins i get a motor boating type sound. The build doc states any quad op amp, I've tried a lm339, (no sound at all) lm324 (sound but is super noisy) and the 274 it calls, i don't have a 074 yet, i need to order it still.  I was thinking that i could increase the dropping resistor a little above the 150R (R28 i think it is) that it was changed too to lower the operating range a tiny bit. Anyone else have this problem still?  It really does sound cool until it starts acting up.  I bought some Chinese greenies from ebay, i hope one of those isn't bad...
