My biggest beef was dispatching the night king halfway through. I liked the battle of winterfell, and even how it ended, but I always thought the series was being set up as the fight for the iron throne is sort of an ongoing humans will be humans thing, but this army of ice zombies is the real threat. Like the magical fantasy aspect of the show was lesser to the political side. Made Bran and Jon and the Wall's interesting stories seem more like a side quest. Did Bran really become the three eyed raven, become humanities history book and see through time, just so he could rule a kingdom for a few decades? Seems like that could have been larger than that. But it is what it is! Entertainment.

Besides that, I don't think Danny's character turn was bad, I'm glad Jon wasn't just handed the throne, but the outrage is ludicrous. I can understand not enjoying the direction things took or the pacing of the last couple seasons, because I had my issues with them too, but to start a petition for a rewrite of the last season with new writers? Whiny, entitled crybabies.

Yeah, how dare they demand a story that is......., good instead of mediocre. If you're promised a product, and you get something that is faulty and which does not live up to the advertisement, that now makes you a crybaby?

The point of the petition is not to have the series remade. Nobody is that stupid. The point of the petition is to show HBO that they seriously dropped the idiot ball and that their consumers are not happy with the end product.

Not a fair analogy. It was not faulty, it lived up to the advertisement. It certainly wasn't broken. It just didn't live up to your expectation. Or, frankly, mine. If they would have straight up not made the last season, or made less episodes or shorter episodes than what was promised, then I'd get it.

I'm going to start a petition next time I make an overdrive I don't like or I have a banana that's too ripe. Life's too short to be on such a high horse.

Edit: I see now you haven't watched it.

I don't think that anybody really expects HBO to actually remake the last season, it's more just a way for people to voice their displeasure with the way things have gone and hopefully make Disney think twice about giving the showrunners their own Star Wars trilogy.

"David Benioff and D.B. Weiss have proven themselves to be woefully incompetent writers when they have no source material (i.e. the books) to fall back on.
This series deserves a final season that makes sense.
Subvert my expectations and make it happen, HBO!"

If you've ever poured your heart into something and had it be totally crushed publicly, you may understand how incredibly disrespectful this is to everyone involved, way way way beyond Benioff and Weiss. The person who made the petition may have back pedal'd hard after he made it, but half a million people signed it before he did so, and now it's above a million. The internet is a harsh place for opinions on things, but this is just dumb. However, this is just another opinion, haha!

Based on this video, it looks like they are supposed to both light up?

That's so cool. How do the LED's light up at different times like that? Seems like chaos in a great way.

Check out the ZVex seek trem. Instead of pots, use set resistors. I think it even has LED's already? Rather than scrolling through with a rate, you'd have to click through. Where there's a will, there's a way!

I think a microcontroller, even something very simple like a PICAXE would do the job.

I don't know anything about FF7, but I do know there are lots of options for really slick displays/visuals out there.  Take a look through the Adafruit site, and you might find some inspiration, like maybe these NeoPixels:
https://www.adafruit.com/product/2842?length=1

The product you linked to looks amazing. But, it might be a little too much power and maybe too intense. On the site though, something like this looks interesting, but I'm not sure if I'd be able to control the rate that it all moves around:

I really like "magic eye" tubes and wanted to build one into an amp/pedal

Agreed! Although I can't really think of a way to use one for this project. Delays and modulation for sure though. I'm working on a pre-ampy sort of drive thing.

Open Discussion / Fun/Interesting Visuals?

I'm working on a tube effect that's in a pretty large enclosure, and I'm basing the enclosure design off the big cannon from FF7. I thought it would be fun to add some sort of interesting visual effect to it. I thought about putting an LED bar graph that would increase as the drive knob is turned up simply by using a dual gang pot and putting a CV on one of the gangs to control an LED controller, but there certainly has to be something more interesting out there. Or something that flashed faster as the drive increased, but I have a feeling a simple flashing LED wouldn't too interesting. Perhaps a multi color LED fading between colors.

This is real cool, but probably a little outside of what I could put together. Unless there's a kit for this type tube thing out there:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MsUJxcTFRYI&feature=youtu.be&t=1m38s

The basic requirement is that it doesn't consume a whole lot of power. I have extra amps on tap for the tubes, but probably not enough for something like a whole extra preamp tube.

Thanks for any suggestions!

They always do, don't they?

Hmm, Im wondering the same thing. I looked back on 3 different invoices from 2017,2018 and 2019 and I have sales tax on all of them... Unless i'm missing something

Because we are in California where the housing prices are high and gas taxes keep increase. Median house price California 2019 is $510k where Nationwide median housing falls on $270k. I am just venting it out, especially about the gas prices. It's insane!

Just filled up at Arco, usually the only reasonable one, and it finally went above $4 😑

Hello Jay, couple of comments.

1) your diode, cap and transistor pads look VERY small. The lead may or fit through, and even if it did, it will be very hard to solder to such a small pad.
2) you have a lot of room between components. If this were a board for someone learning to solder, the ample spacing would be great. If you are competent at soldering, I'd move all the components together more. I'd also orient them vertically instead of horizontally, that way you can route traces underneath components instead of around. You'll also save money by not using unnecessary space at the fab house.
3) I don't see any in, out or power connections!

I suggest getting the book PCB for musical effects by RG Keen, who is the mind behind GEOFEX. I also suggest looking at and learning from other people's layouts. Your learn a lot. Finally, read up on ground planes as I think that are invaluable. The book will help you with the layout, and any EAGLE tutorial will help you out with the program, but they are two separate skills to master.

There is an EAGLE section of this forum and you may find many threads there that are helpful.

The chip has a handful of mentions over at DIYSB. I suspect it hasn't taken off for the same reasons most programmable chips haven't taken off - the difference between designing and soldering circuit boards is vastly different from the knowledge needed to write programs for effects. The FV1 tries to hurdle this with its simplified unit programming, and seems to have done a good job.

The inner workings of all of the shipping companies can be a mystery at times.  I've had things routed way out of the direct path of travel for reasons I still don't understand.

Unfortunately, if it's five day service, they likely just deprioritized your package in favor of more urgent deliveries.  Since they technically met their obligation, there's not much recourse.  I'm not sure FedEx is any worse in this regard, but I understand it's frustrating.

That's what I'm thinking as well. I've worked for and consulted with plenty of companies that either are the deliverers or ship stuff daily, and there's a lot of scheduling, planning and inner workings that aren't obvious or available to customers or people not familiar with shipping logistics. It would be great if the stars aligned and you got your package early, but as long as they keep their end of the bargain, I don't see how you can blame them for anything yet.
