So I just finished building my Ping. All components in place, wires hooked up. Plugged it in and it passes a clear signal to the amp. Once I turn on the switch, the LED lights up but it makes what I would call a sputtering static sound and the guitar signal is cut off completely. I'm going through and checking all the wires, solder bridges that I can see, basically everything I can get at without taking off the reverb brick.

Does anyone have any ideas as to what this sound could be indicating?

Looks really neat! and welcome to the community.

Did you use a 3PDT switch or 2PDTs? with a 3PDT you could actually do it in just one box with one switch. would save place on the board... If you're interested, I can draw out a wiring scheme for you.

Oh wow, I have no idea how that would even work. Yeah, if you could draw that out that would be awesome!

this should do the trick, let me know if you need more info

Cool, thanks! I guess I don't really understand how this would work to use the same pedal through two different instruments going through their respective amps though.

Wow! I see an amazing russian reverb-pedal in your pedalboard! Are you a member of GAS-club in vkontakte social network?  ;)

LOL unfortunately no. I didn't even know about the GAS club until you mentioned it, let alone understand or speak russian.  ;) I bought this from Shift Line themselves, just sent them an email.

I've been playing with the pedal for about 2 weeks now and I'm still getting used to it. It can make some really incredible atmospheric sounds that I've never quite heard anywhere else, especially out of just one pedal. You hardly have to increase the level and mix at all in order for the swells to get carried away. In bypass mode, its still allowing the signal to affect the current setting, but not affecting the sound. So, when you switch it on the effect is applied to whatever you were just playing, like a trails effect. Its hard to imagine a scenario where you would want this, I haven't found it yet. It definitely requires some creative thinking to apply it to real-life uses!

I thought I should start out with something pretty basic before I dive right in. I play bass and guitar in a band and I recently built a new pedal board to house both effects. I wanted to utilize my Shift Line Astronaut reverb pedal for both and switch between the signal paths.  Here's what i came up with... green: guitar, red:bass

Good luck with it, I wouldn't consider the Moodring an easy First Build.

Yeah, I'm kinda seeing this already... I don't even have the board yet, (waiting for them to become available in March I guess?!) Would you be able to tell me what kind of problems I'd likely run into with this build versus an easier one?

Does anyone know if the SPDT/SPST switch is an on/on or on/off?

I don't really know what to shop for here:

Thanks for the info! Now I just have to wait until Madbean starts offering the Mood Ring boards again...

I'm planning on getting very ambitious and having this will be my first build... I've been watching a ton of videos and reading loads of stuff on these forums, so far I think I have a relatively good handle on the basics.  Couple of questions though... hopefully the (stolen) image will be self explanatory:

1. The two red/diffused LED's on D3 and D4, what exactly do they do? My main question is if they just act as diodes or if they actually light up. I'd like to poke them through the enclosure and incorporate them into my graphics if they do.

2. I've seen several completed Moodrings both with and without this extra board here, attached to the switch. What purpose does that serve?

Thanks!
