Oh... yeah...I dunno what I was thinking when I thought those ones wouldn't do, but it was late.

I'll just wait for the next discount code. ;)

How Do I? Beginner's Paradise. / Cave Dweller

Just bought a couple of Cave Dweller PCB's last night. One for myself and a mate.
Ordering parts, and the LM78L05 was near impossible to find. My question is would the L78L05 work in it's place?

Also couldn't find the right 9mm pots, so this one's using off-pcb pots and going in a slightly larger box. (more room for artwork, I tell myself).
Still residing in noob land.

Finished pedal!

Just having a rant.
My Fuzz pedal is wired and waiting to go in, but I'm still working on prettying up the box.
Have been trying for the past couple of weeks with no progress with GIMP.
I'm at the point where I'm about to take to the box with a Sharpie.
At least it's got a nice coat of paint.

Problem solved.
The Stab pot, the first pot after the input, seemed to be the culprit. I removed and tested it, and yes it was stuffed. Replaced it, and all working well. Woohoo!
Now on to blinging up the case!
edit: The name suits it. The varations of fuzz out of this pedal are insane!

Yeah it was a fluke with the colour matching!

That amp is epic!

Bypass is working - cause was a faulty guitar lead. That's that sorted!
Now onto the pedal.

Cheers Chromosphere. Hope not to be too much of a pest, but it's only natural for a noob.

I will have you know I checked every wire against my schematic with a dried out highlighter I found with the lid left off, thankyou very much!

Also found out that you should install the dc jack BEFORE you solder it, but that's a job for the near future.

"Bypass kinda working", sorry, pretty vague there. I gave it a try tonight and the volume into the amp was very low with the effect turned off. (obviously Effect on, there was nothing). Amp working fine.
Haven't soldered in years, so I'm remembering as I go along.

I'll give it another go tomorrow - As I've got a belgian dark strong ale on the go, no progress will be made this evening. 8) 8)
I'll pull it apart tomorrow sometime and see what I can find.

Lol, it makes for quick and easy battery changes!
It's definitely a bit of a birds nest in there. Hopefully things like this improve over time.

Okay I suppose I can shrink it and just attach a small image. Used another forum similar in the past.

Anyway, it's the noisy cricket, wired up on some veroboard. I liked the idea of the "beta bass" mod included in the instructions, so added in a rotary switch, going between 3 capacitors for different bass levels.
I have it running through my amp's 12" Celestion, and far out it's pretty loud for 1/2Watt!

Wife had a spare lunchbox lying around. Made sense. Future plans are for a tube cricket - I'll case that one up a bit better. LOL.
